US politics - never go full Project 2025 (part 8)

No, not quite: many millions in red states were disenfranchised by Republican dirty tricks.

War plans ahead of strikes isn’t classified information. I love how they contort themselves with their lies.

They are digging a bigger hole for themselves by trying to justify what happened.

If Trump was in the group, he would have just said: ā€œLook over there, right now I’m sending a cargo plane which will fill Greenland with fluorescent puppiesā€, and everyone would immediately forget about the stupid thing he just did in favour of the newer, stupider thing.

They’ve made some enormous, catastrophic errors, but to date they’ve mainly been on purpose or, you know, funny, like firing people in charge of nuclear weapons etc. This time it’s as naked a blunder as you could imagine.

But it will go away, and there’s just as likely a possibility that it’s another deliberate act to destabilise and invite chaos.

I’m reminded about what Mark Felt/Deep Throat said about watergate. ā€œThe truth is that these weren’t very smart guys, and things got out of handā€

I don’t think this is likely deliberate in any way. These are just people who’ve made political careers out of being loudly ignorant and too arrogant to learn, demonstrating what happens when you have ignorant arrogant people in charge.

This wouldn’t be good either.

ā€œOur confidential communications system is so secure that someone with no hacking skills can get in easily and without detectionā€

Sure, agree with that but I don’t discount that somewhere in the chain there’s elements feverishly working to turn it to advantage and actually welcoming the inevitable clusterfarks. There’s a lot to be gained by systemic failure for certain parasitic entities, be they economic or ideological variety. I mean, I think Vance is a bloviating prik and a small intellect but he’s conniving, ā€˜adaptable’ and ideologically driven enough to be a useful link man and be conscious of it. He’s also very likely the next US President, which is almost as hard to believe as Trump the first time around.

Noted, thanks for the fact checking.

This would be career ending for most of these people in a normal administration.

But yeah, we know very well this isn’t a normal administration.

We’re one tweet away from ā€œthis is all Joe Bidenā€˜s fault and never would’ve happened if he didn’t do XYZā€

Both ABC and Guardian f*****g up their reporting of this, meekly broadcasting Trump’s claim that there was nothing confidential in the Signal chat, and headlines like this:

It’s like they can’t wait to get to the next story.
