US politics - never go full Project 2025 (part 8)

Yes I think he’s very reluctant

Wasn’t Carlson’s stance that the US shouldn’t stick themselves into another conflict? Is this Trump’s way of saying we’ll get involved and you’ll like it?

Pretty much.

Yep. He is a clown, on too many levels. And that was one of them. Does he think a city of nine million can just be wholesale packed up and evacuated?
But he has, intentionally or unintentionally, just incited more chaos when as the self-proclaimed peacemaker, he should be de-escalating and defusing tensions…

Trump is a bloody clown. He should never have posted that message. However there is no way of de-escalating things. Neither side is stopping. This ends with a big defeat to one side or the other. No negotiations and agreements. That time is gone. This is a last ditch effort to stop the Iranians getting nukes - which if it happens will be catastrophic for many countries and perhaps the world. The US doesn’t want to get its hands dirty.

No proof whatsoever has been offered, yet.

The thing is, this course of action may have more unforeseen consequences than envisaged and a whole lot of blowbacks. One thing is for certain; the old status quo is gone.

The end of the era of containment

For those saying Trump doesn’t want to get involved, he might not want boots on the ground but you can bet he wants to make out like he’s in control, and that he wants all the attention.

If only the US, and UK, and Australia, and Israel, hadn’t spent the past 30 years making it crystal clear to every country in the Middle East that only nukes can guarantee you won’t get bombed to ■■■■ whenever the current prez (or Israeli pm) gets out of bed on the wrong side, and that no treaty you make with them can be relied on to prevent that.

Depressingly enough, pursuing nuclear weapons as a matter of urgency is an entirely rational policy for Iran now.

I believe this was true last week, however Iran’s capitulation has surprised even the IDF’s most optimistic analysts. Trump will look to have his piece of the glory cake by sending a few bombers over Iran, now that he knows they can fly unmolested.
