Its pretty clear that imposition of tariffs will increase prices and stimulate local import replacement action over time. The trouble is in some industries it takes years to ramp up production.
But the flip side is tariff retaliation, which dampens demand for US exports and could cause job losses in those industries.
Then there is buyer sentiment. Sales of EVs like Tesla in Europe are dropping and Musk/Tesla are now on the nose in Europe. Chinese and European hybrids will destroy Teslas market in Europe which has already collapsed in China.
Besides Musk has lost interest in Tesla an half of the people in the USA dislike him.
