This is just complete conjecture.
I donā€™t know the answer myself.
But would Walz have done better?

And by Walz, I mean literally any no policy right age white man.

Yes

By how much, Iā€™ve got no idea.

But if they ran a proper primary 18 months ago and selected a man, they would have done better.

If they ran a proper primary and selected anyone popular, regardless of gender, they would have done better

I meanā€¦speaking of people weeping over this resultā€¦
This is absolutely one of the reasons for half of the population.
Thereā€™s justā€¦no way a woman can ever be President.
But keep licking those tears and sook about being called not nice.

Yeah to the nah.

Iā€™d like these nuffs to spend some time with my 74 year-old mother who has wanted nothing more than to see a female president before she dies. Do they enjoy her tears?

You donā€™t think theyā€™d have done better than they have by selecting someone popular with the people?

Thatā€™s definitely anā€¦ interesting take.
Hell, even if Kamala won the primary sheā€™d have gotten a little bit of a bump from people feeling like theyā€™d ā€œchosenā€ her to run (and alot longer to build a campaign)

Of course they do.
ā– ā– ā– ā–  your mother.

Hahahahahaha.

Iā€™m a nice person. Donā€™t you dare say Iā€™m not.

Thereā€™s no alternative.

Wut?

I admit the one hangup Iā€™ve had about Kamala this whole time was the fact she didnā€™t come out of a primary. And I juxtapose that with the fact that she was awful in the 2020 primary.

I actually think she didnā€™t do a bad jobā€¦ but I think she took some bad advice. The people in charge of Democratic campaigns are hopeless and somehow keep repeating the same mistakes every time.

Or maybe they donā€™t care if they win or lose one way or the otherā€¦ the only thing a Democratic politician really cares about is fund-raising.

Humble covered many of the points near the end of the last thread, and I found this podcast did a good job of analysis in the immediate aftermath.

Yes, they are all Democrats, but it helps with many of the questions in here about why did dems crash, how did Trump gain certain areas and demographics, the Latino males, Harrisā€™ campaign, the underlying problems with Dems, the Rightā€™s ability to connect, and more.

(Posting link from Apple Japan, so apologies if it doesnā€™t work)

Donā€™t make me do stuff.

Of course they can, theres a long list of countries - plenty with a macho history or more so than the US that have elected female leaders.

Utter crap that Harris lost because she was a woman.

It was a change election because the democrats were stale, presiding over high inflation and her platform didnt really offer anything substantially new other than not being Donald Trump.

Being a woman on its own is not enough to be elected. I under estimated that and it was woman who highlighted that exact reason.
(They didnt show up for her)

Same as just being a man.

The better candidate has lost twice to a man.
Donā€™t tell me itā€™s not an issue.

Nail on head.

And the party thinks that these are the only two things that should matter. Much like, well, 2016.

No lessons learned. Again.
