US Politics Thread - Post Mueller Edition

Many others have been filmed too. In fact the one that is exactly reminiscent of this one was , … you know, the First “I can’t breathe” video where the black guy died.

It’s been a different, more appropriate, and far faster response to the Cops actions this time.

I have consistently stated there is no other option!!! I have not said you advocated anything other than there could have been another option and we could have sacrificed more lives for a better economic outcome. This is the point, there is no other option and presenting 10,000 deaths to back up this argument doesnt wash. It is not hypothetical it is rubbish and I have pointed this out . you wont respond to that and just keep whinging about what you didnt say. Tell me my figures are wrong or stop using 10,000.

BTW Japan declared a state of emergency and has been slowly lifting it. Sweden had a light lockdown so did brazil italy UK spain etc until it got out of control but you are only interested in sweden.
I am sure shareholders and the elite are desperate to get back to making money and want to talk about things in terms of there money versus deaths while most of the population want save lives and are not willling to trade lives for a few bucks!

The Government and the Police need to clamp down hard of this sort of behaviour. This is just another occurrence of racial violence and the our blokes were caught red handed on video. Would they have treated someone of no colour the same way?

I have a friend who went to high school in Minnesota and the family were very shocked by this incident. They said it was one of the places in the US with a rich cultural diversity. I said everything changes given time. There is a lot of stuff going on in the US atm lots of people are jumpy not knowing what is going to happen.

And I’ve consistently pointed out that that is hogwash. Some countries did stronger lock downs, some did lighter ones. Some initially did nothing, others did a whole heap very late. The idea that there is no other option than what Australia did is observably false.

Then why bring up herd immunity?

Once again you go around saying there is no other option, which is observably false.

You fundamentally don’t seem to understand the idea of a hypothetical is. I posted my original post again, but you don’t seem to understand I was never saying 10,000 was a real number, but always an example of “if history says we could have had X economic damage for Y deaths, we might have taken it”. I have never presented 10,000 deaths to back up an “argument”. I’ve said when we review we might think we should have taken different approaches if there were ones which would have lead to less economic damage, and the additional deaths wouldn’t be too extreme.

Which of course is totally true, because in the post you’re responding to I mentioned Japan…
hmm.

No doubt that is true about the elite. Of course, those who are worried about youth unemployment, government debt, domestic violence, mental health, suicide rates, superannuation for young adults, may also believe that all deaths aren’t worth any amount of money.

Is that a very polite way of saying shut the fckk up?

hypotheticals are supposed to be realistic! 10,000 is not realistic

I have never mentioned Australia and am not talking about australia, this is the US post!

There are plenty of options the point is none of them desirable!!!

Herd immunity is the option sweden went for.

Control is the option some countries are taking which is not having more people contract the disease than the health system can cope with and denmark taiwan etc are good examples of how hard lockdowns are economically better. This is not to say I wouldnt support going hard if it wasnt economically better.
You and the elite want to talk about how many lives would be best to sacrifice for a better economic outcome but doubt too many others are interested

If you actually did ANY research you would know that the suicide rate has not increased! Mental health institutions have lower than normal occupancy rates.
you are presenting arguments you think people will believe because it appears like it could be correct and they wont research to find out it is crap , pretty much the same approach trump has

Foxy Newsy Mcenany, who dissed hell out of Trump pre election and now cleans his toe nails, has voted by mail 11 times in the last 10 years. “But I’m absentee! I have good reason.” Avoiding getting and spreading a deadly virus is not a good reason. She’s dead in the eyes, like the rest of them. Different species.

White people can vote by mail, that’s ok. It’s the black and brown people they don’t want voting by mail.

You’ve just described the state of the world right now. Internetz, it’s the internetz I tell ya!

This, so much this. All of this was previously happening, it just wasn’t filmed. And even now only a fraction is caught on camera.

The real tragedy with these riots is they happen in poor areas. The people get (rightfully) upset, but then riot and hurt their own neighbours. If they rioted in rich areas there would be significantly more push to respond to their concerns.

I find the Scarborough stuff absolutely astonishing (and I didn’t think I could be shocked anymore). He had a media pundit who is very critical of him and openly accuses him of murder. And he exercises unprecedented control over the justice department through Barr.

“Every single day of this crisis this State Government Committee in Pennsylvania has met so that their members could line up one after one after one and explain that it was safe to go back to work,” he said. “During that time period they were testing positive. They were notifying one another. And they didn’t notify us.”
