Pretty sure it was O’Keefe, but in the same stable
Such sad news, he will be missed
You missed the best bit… ‘and the western suburbs erupt’ as the fans are going nuts in the stands.
On another note the 90s were filled with guys that were professionals in their craft, not ex footy players or media personalities shoehorned into the role. Bruce, Dennis, but my two favourites Sandy and Ian Robertson (I know he was bias) were superb.
NGL, this made me tear up. Video from 2020
Triple premiership player with Fark Carlton
Oh I didn’t know he played, but now makes sense as to why he was so bias towards Carlton, particularly when they played against us.
He was around in the late 60s into the mid 70s…so you’d probably have to be around my age (or older) to know of him. ![]()
Drew Morphett was fantastic as well. And even some of those that weren’t so great, when you hear the current crop you statt to think “hmmmm…mayhe they weren’t so bad after all”
Tim Lane when he was on ABC was great, did a great call of the 1984 GF (with morphett)
The ABC commentators of the 85 GF were good as well (in that game anyway).
What is overlooked is his TECHNICAL ability to accurately call the action. His one-liners were the icing on the cake.
Concur 100%. Those two not only had great knowledge of the game but also great love for it, and their chemistry is something l still marvel at on replays. RIP DC.
outstanding stuff - thank you!
Holland to Scotland.. that’s a massive kick
Sounds like me
I dont get this one. I know what a metropolis is, jus6 dont understand the reference here
Metropolis I think played for WC. Kicking to the “city” end.![]()
Daniel Metropolis. Eagles player in the 90’s.
Started his career with a blaze of glory. Kicked 4 goals with his first 4 kicks. But he was essentially a fringe player most of his career.
Yeah I know who he was. I just dont get the reference, didnt reslise it was as simple as City
SUPERMAN - man of steel!!
