VFLW 2026 Squad

Peter Williams’ notes from last week vs Northern Knights:

#6 Lily Frangoulis
Forward/Midfielder | 152cm | 20/04/2008

Stats: 16 disposals, 1 mark, 11 tackles, 4 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 2 goals, 1 behind

Frangoulis brought immense pressure and scoreboard impact. She rotated on-ball and went in hard to win a series of quick handballs, while also laying some bonecrunching tackles which showed how tough she is despite her smaller frame. Her forward impact was profound in the third quarter, where she kicked the opening goal by marking deep and running into an open goal, followed by setting up a goal for Clough. She added a second goal with a clever snap from the pocket. In the final term, her great release handball set up another scoring opportunity, and she was consistently dangerous charging forward.

Ha, finally realises the photos on the EFC site ARE updated… because they forgot to change the heading.

Hella tan-line, Chloe + why do 40% of the photos have shadows and the others not?

I haven’t been scouring all of the AFLW training photos, but VFLW players who have been captured include Jemma Reynolds, Madison Ibrahim, and Tia DAMAGE.

Plus Amelie Gladman.

Tay is your NAIDOC Medal winner in what ended up as a comfy win after the team scored 0.13 in the first three quarters (before adding 3.2 in the final):

I had missed that Jess Owen’s brother was Cameron Owen, 203cm ex-Swan and now at Tassie VFL.

Tall genes galore in that family, though much of their difference in height appears to be neck…

Lily Bateman 22yo today… I remember when she was the Bad Bateman down back, and I was wrong.

Double good news would be Lucy Thompson being our runner last night, so making progress… and she replaced Chloe Prpic, who is today playing for Aberfeldie in the EDFL after two days less than two years off injured (ACL + miscellaneous).

EDIT: they lost 26-51 to Oak Park, which is at least good news for Felicity Theodore and Terira Fry (respectively, 9 EFC games in 2021 and 1 game in 2019… but of course you knew that).

AND Georgia Tyrrell also returned from injury yesterday (314 day break). St Joseph’s again, named in the bests.

This is some pretty good players and staff support for Prpic:

Also, LOL at Mini standing on the bench and still being shorter than Owen.
