Finals four-peat!
Footscray beat Norf 50-43 today (reversal of 43-65 in round one).
North into their first finals campaign.
If we went un-changed for next week, the changes from the catastrophic round 9 match would be:
OUT | IN | Role |
---|---|---|
Marnie Robinson | Karly McNeice | Defender |
Emily Tassiopoulos | Jayda Richardson | Forward |
Kodi Jacques | Bailey Hunt | Mid/fwd |
Manaia Huta | Tayla Hart-Aluni | Small forward |
Lavina Cox | Ava Jordan | Mid |
Gabby Drage | Sarah Perkins | Forward |
Sienna Hobbs | Christina Bernardi | Fwd/mid |
Chloe Prpic | Olivia Manfre | Utility–>forward |
That’s certainly an upgrade. Is heavy on our ability to score.
You’d guess (in the absence of information on the reason for their absence) that Marshall and/or Robinson might come in. Who gets Dojiok?
(Yes, Huta shouldn’t be a forward, but she was played in that role in that game.)
Last year we had to wait till Monday for the scheduling.
The rules for qualification aren’t published. I’m going to guess the rules are:
So we reasonably have 11 alternative players (plus 3 Pioneers) backing up the the round 14 team.
Did not qualify:
So… do you think the midfield might be important?

WRONG!
Saturday, June 29
First Elimination Final, Box Hill Hawks (3rd) vs. Port Melbourne (6th)
Box Hill City Oval, 11:30am AEST
Sunday, June 30
First Elimination Final, North Melbourne (4th) vs. Essendon (5th)
Arden Street Oval, 1:00pm AEST
Qualifying Final, Williamstown (1st) vs. Western Bulldogs (2nd)
DSV Stadium, 2:00pm AEST
Surprised no Arden Street double-header(ish)!
Hawks the ones to benefit if they can actually manage to beat Port – one day extra off vs Willy/Dogs to see who gets sent direct to the Grand Final.
Just out of vision below is them thrashing us.
Since then, the two of us have fairly similarly beaten Port and the Hawks, and both of us lost relatively narrowly to a top two team.
We smashed our cellar-dweller and performed credibly against a-near AFLW team; they struggled against two cellar-dwellers (just ONE goal vs the Pies the week after playing us!!!)
I’m not surprised. They provided us a glass box to change in last month; how would they deal with 4 teams?
Seeing Tierney and Barba in those lists still hurts a little bit.
It will hurt a bit less if Perkins kicks her second* goal after the final siren to win us the game.
*that would be her 100th VFLW goal.
