NatMac on the left follows my advice to kick the goal before the ump found a new free.
We can improve on today; once again we topped out around 20 disposals, and there were some notably quiet people today: CBomb, Clifford, Anthony.
Tierney and Frew only had one goal between them, but also had 25 disposals.
Ashley-Cooper was a rock today, Nalder is bossing the hit-outs and filling gaps down back, loved Hosking’s aggression, Nattie got her second three-goal haul, Barba was at every single contest in that last quarter.
Here’s our progess as a team in 10 game blocks.
From | To | Wins | Percentage |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 10 | 10% | 46% |
11 | 20 | 10% | 42% |
21 | 30 | 60% | 131% |
31 | 40 | 50% | 151% |
41 | 50 | 75% | 241% |
51 | 60 | 95% | 382% |
In 14 rounds of H&A we kept our opponents scoreless in 19 quarters (13 quarters across 12 games, if you ignore hapless Footscray).
Today we held a 12-1-1 team scoreless for 3 quarters.
For about 70 of the 80 minutes we basically did not let Hawthorn have consecutive un-pressured disposals. That’s not easy; we are not the team we are because we have a few flashy mids and forwards, but because of a whole-of-team committment to defence.
Not to say the Hawks didn’t go hard: they had 89 tackles to our 83, but given we had 26% more disposals they were moreso the reactive ones.
Nattie moved to 15 EFC goals, equal 6th with Dematteooooooooooooo.
Great posts David. Love your work.
97 Gallivant photos are up (there were at least four big cameras out and about today; she.scores being one of the others).
