FORM COMING IN

The Bulldogs (7th, 4-4) continued their winning ways in Round 9 with a fourth victory in as many weeks, beating Melbourne Uni by 21 points. Essendon (13th, 1-7) celebrated a historic first VFLW win last week, knocking off Richmond by eight points.

KEY QUESTION

Can the Bombers gain any momentum in a tough fixture? Essendon finally sung the team song in Round 9 but the road forward looks tough. The Bombers will play the in-form Bulldogs this round and then three of the competition’s top-five sides in the Darebin Falcons, Collingwood and then the Geelong Cats – with three of these four games on the road.

KEY STAT

Having being crowned the AFLW leading goalkicker in 2018, Brooke Lochland was back at her best in the Bulldogs’ VFLW side last week, booting three goals against her old VFLW teammates at the Mugars – this haul coming after kicking only two majors from her previous five games.

Are Hird or Long ever going to get a game.?

If they are not playing in our W team who are they playing for?

I think I heard Hird say Stef is playing with Old Geelong in the ammos.

Brief moment of panic as the game is not where it was advertised at…

Luckily it’s across the road at the Merv Hughes Oval.

We’re kicking west. Wind is strong from the north but not favouring an end (?)

Morecroft goes forward, holding the ball free to her hard in the pocket one minute in.

Point only.

1-0

And she makes another big tackle!!!

Ball spills to Moreau who goals from a metre out.

7-0

#1 Trend comes on from the bench.

Farchione needs to wait till her team-mate comes off before entering… it’s a casual environment here, benches opposite sides of the ground.

7-6, booooooo.

And Farchione is run down thirty from our goal, too slow to kick.

Rushed point to us. Lauren is full-forward, not CHF, and winning every contest.

Quigley marks thirty on the angle (wrong side).

And Moreau is at the back of the pack in the square and marks easily. Sharp angle, point only.

8-6

Footscray forward a second time, but Ugle hits the ball at speed, takes a bounce and gets us out of trouble.

No visible clock, yay for set length quarters.

Scoreboard says the batsmen are EB 8 and WB 6 at quarter time.

“Half back was fantastic, forward pressure brilliant” is Major’s first words.
