Hawks are all over the shop. Their win today was based on kicking 8 goals either side of three quarter time against a consistently poor FCFC.
At least we had the decency, and respect for tradition, to belt Darebin though!

Sarah Perkins to return and help us roll the top-placed Hawks sounds poetic to me

Note that Caitlin Thorne is a likely OUT this week, given AFLW pre-season starts two days after this game.
Mietta Kendall returned this past week (after missing 5 games) and kicked 2 goals.
In this past week’s game Luke had 13 hitouts, Olivia Barber had 12, and Grace Matser had 4. We have to play two rucks.
I will speculate from the below that Jayda Richardson has been out with concussion (suffered at training?)
Would be interesting if she AND Perkins are available this week, and Manfre has just come off three goals. Would be harsh to drop Tassiopoulos.
FWIW, last week’s coach votes for them…and LOL Fark Carlton getting a solitary pity vote.

Actual reportage (not just stats) on our opponents last week.
#39 Jessica Matin (Midfielder)
28/6/2002 | 164cm
Stats: 14 disposals, three inside 50s, three tackles, two marks, two behinds
Although Matin is normally a forward, she played more of a midfield role on the weekend to much success. She got her head down and just went to work at the heart of the midfield, but did also push forward at times.
#60 Grace Matser (Ruck/Forward)
3/1/2003 | 186cm
Stats: Seven disposals, four hitouts, three goals, one tackle
Although Matser started in the ruck, her move into the forward line proved to be more influential on the match result. She kicked three goals, with al three kicked in very different situations, and also set up a fourth goal.
#66 Mietta Kendall (Forward)
3/9/2002 | 160cm
Stats: 11 disposals, three tackles, three inside 50s, two goals
Kendall played mainly in the forwardline, but did push up to as much as the halfway line at times during the game, trying to influence the game. Her first goal came at the culmination of a great chain of play, while her second goal showed a lot of control as it was a kick around her body while she was being tackled.
Rucks/bigs re-shuffle.
The article names their team upside-down, but I’ve flipped it below.
(Yes, the left and right-footers might still be on the wrong sides. Deal with it.)
Two debutantes will be added to Box Hill’s side this week, as the team gets geared for action this Saturday at Windy Hill.
The Hawks will see the inclusion of Eastern Ranges products Stasia Stevenson and Georgia Brisbane, who will be making their debut in the brown and gold.
The remaining inclusions into the team to face the Bombers are skilful ruck Paula Pavic and tough gun Rosie Dillon.
Coming out from the squad who defeated Carlton by 60-points are Olivia Barber and Mikayla Lee. Tess Cattle and Grace Matser have also been omitted but have been named as emergencies for the match.

That’s one hell of a mic drop… 145 AFLW games between them. It’s very Hawks-like.
We’ve had just 4 of a possible 40 games from these four this year – we are doubling that this week!
B: M. Robinson (80), L. Bateman (63)
HB: M. Ford (42), S. Molan (73), D. Marshall (76)
C: D. Ryan (51), E. Chaston (61), S. Ford (45)

Decent chance at least one of Hunt and Molan play as mids.

This will be our 11th game versus the Hawks. Casey, Pies, Saints, and Port/Rich are on 9. Perkins was against us in two of those early losses.
P.S. I looked at an old list when I wrote the above. My bad; she remains in their midfield.
Just looked the ladder. Why have the swans and giants played 5 games each when all the other teams have played 10?
‘Cause they’re not real teams and they don’t live in a footy state. AFL propping them up.
If those two teams had to follow traditional VFLW rules (no more than 10 AFLW players in any one game) it wouldn’t have been that disruptive. The problem was the AFL said everyone could play up to 21 AFLW players – and the Swans took that literally for at least one week. The Hawks’ ladder position is also significantly due to them playing >10 AFLW players (including Emily Bates!!!) in the early part of the year.
Note that Willy and Darebin, who don’t have an affiliated AFLW team, didn’t have to play them – when you look at the ladder you should consider they got to play one more competitive game than everyone else, and not get their percentage smashed.
(Pies actually won one of those ten matches – they stacked their team with AFLW players, Sydney slacked off, and the Pies kicked two goals in the last minute to get over the line.)
What I’d like to see today, apart from glorious debuts and Hawthorn losing top spot: Sarah Ford getting more of the ball.
We’ve trimmed our deep mid depth this week, so step up please.
She’s had 4 of 10 games primarily on the inside, and 6 on the wing. Total of 33 CBAs, which is only behind other non-rucks Mahony and Melnikas (they have 93 and 72 respectively, but have spent close enough to all of their games in the middle).
SURREAL!
