FORM COMING IN

In a second loss since their first win in Round 9, Essendon (13th, 1-9) was beaten by the Darebin Falcons by 26 points before sitting out last week with a bye. Collingwood (1st, 9-0-1) continued its winning ways last round, comfortably beating Melbourne Uni by 19 points.

KEY QUESTION

Can the Bombers match Collingwood’s even spread of contributors? With both sides at opposite ends of the ladder, Essendon faces a big task against the undefeated Magpies. Collingwood’s strength is that there is rarely only a few carrying the load. The club has also been buoyed by a depth of quality players, with newest recruit Nicole Hildebrand fitting in nicely over the past three rounds and Steph Chiocci making her debut for the VFLW side last week. The Bombers have been competitive against quality opposition over the last two rounds but will need to step it up another gear if they are to contend this week.

KEY STAT

Magpies young gun Chloe Molloy proved extremely clean with her ball use against the Mugars last round. The 2018 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star boasted an 83 per cent efficiency rate from her 23 disposals and was particularly good under pressure with 16 contested possessions.

I can’t make it, BTW. Pray for the miracle of miracles for the result.

Essendon VFLW twitter usually gives a running score count

Northerly wind straight down the guts, we didn’t score into it in the first quarter but have marginally won the second quarter…

We hold the undefeated ladder-leader Collingwood to 1.8 in the third quarter despite the strong wind.

Essendon 3.5.23 loses to Collingwood 6.13.49

Good effort from the girls.
