From https://www.afl.com.au/news/1153873/review-rebel-vflw-round-13

"An extra worry for the home team was Bridget Aughton, who overcame an early head knock but suffered a right leg injury in the dying minutes.”

(The same article also notes that Darebin’s Ange Gogos’ injury was to her knee…)

Ruby Dale and Ella Firth return, with the Cats set to blood two debutants in the final game of the season.

Elise Cook and Isabella Davis will make their VFLW debut after impressive seasons with the GWV Rebels in the Coates League.

Kiara Woods, Hayley Peck, Lucy Marescuk and Caitlin Charles are all unavailable this week.

McNeice lives! But Shaw misses the entire H&A (and therefore can not play finals).

Alas, no Painter :frowning:

  • EFC debut (ignoring the Darwin game) and one game from 50 VFLW: Karly McNeice
  • 25 EFC games: Sophie Molan (+11 VFLW elsewhere)
  • 6 players have played the entire H&A: Melnikas, Chaston, Davidge, Ford, Ryan, Mahony. All but Ryan also played in Darwin.

With the inclusion of McNeice, we have played 49 players this year (equalling last year).

  • 2023 = 15 AFLW (47 games) + 34 VFLW/juniors
  • 2024 = 13 AFLW (36 games) + 36 VFLW/juniors

Between that and long-term injuries for many of our most experienced VFLW players, we’ve done it a bit harder this year.

The average age* on game day is up from 22.99yo to 23.13yo (2022 premiers were 26.26).

*likely accurate to four significant figures. We know Emily Gallagher is/was 23yo, but not her actual birth date. I know everyone needed this disclaimer.

To avoid playing at Arden Street in the elimination finals, we need one or more of the below to occur (all unlikely; they are listed in game order):

  • Norf beat the Dogs by 80+ points
  • We lose to Geelong AND Casey beat the Saints. Casey also need to catch up about 150 points on us. Casey and the Cats have both topped out at 54 points this year.
  • Most likely, but not likely: Port somehow work out how to score, and beat the Hawks.

Happily, the game starts comfortably late enough to allow watching the series finale of Doctor Who first.

Well, the EFC “article” declines to do that, and doesn’t mention that Tassiopoulos is out.

And should start right after the San Diego Padres v Milwaukee Brewers game ends. A nice 5 hours in front of the TV for me this arvo.

The luxury of a “late” start: dry grass!

Tassiopoulos is the emergency in the warm-up. You can tell by her hair that she doesn’t expect to play.

Prpic has done her required running.

CarissBrett thinks this is shorts weather.

Huta has a little sausage dog.

Jordan and BaileyHunt midfield in the warmup. Orritt wing.

Otherwise as named/obvious (Jayda forward).

Norf are not sufficiently thrashing Footscray, yet. 15-7

Dojiok has 13 of that.

Almost no wind.

We’re cold enough regardless.
