VFLW - Round 14 vs Dogs @ Whitten Oval, 7pm Friday 1 August 2025

Yes, there is a bye next week. Yuck. Giving the AFLW match simulations “clean air”?

Friday night at Footscray – double yuck.

Both AFLW teams have their second practice match the day after this game – so at the very least, and very critically, Hardingham should not be playing against us.

Willy have made things more interesting by beating the Hawks…

My model says the final round goes:

Darebin 42 beat Geelong 30
Magpies 34 beat Willy 31
Port 46 beat Casey 30
Hawks 42 beat FCFC 32
EFC 37 beat Bulldogs 32
Norf 42 beat Sandy 27

I agree with those winners, but not necessarily those margins.

That would result in:

Place Team Points Percentage
1 Norf 48 266%
2 Magpies 40 138%
3 Hawks 36 146%
4 Sandy 34 105%
5 Willy 32 107.6%
6 EFC 32 105.2%
7 Darebin 32 93%
8 Port 30 119%
9 Bulldogs 20 71%
10 FCFC 16 76%
11 Casey 8 56%
12 Geelong 8 49%

Let’s beat the Hawks at Box Hill again!

But that percentage gap is nothing: e.g. we hold Footscray to 21 points instead in the absence of HARDINGHAM, we come fifth, play Sandy at Sandy, and hope Willy can roll the Hawks again to get us the double chance.

BRING. HER. IN.

(McLay is/has been injured, hence not “them in”)

Do a “Gillard” and lock in finals for yourself (you ain’t getting any of them at Calder…)

It seems like a lifetime ago, but round 10 debutant Liv Lacy had a decent game vs the Cannons last week: 24 disposals, 2 marks, 10 tackles, 6 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50.

Shauna McElligott, who has trained with us, had 21 disposals, 4 marks, 9 tackles, 7 inside 50s, and 1 goal.

Baker-West did not play…

Dogs have ANNOUNCED.

The Western Bulldogs have made three changes for their Friday night face-off with Essendon in their final outing of the 2025 VFLW season.

Renee Saulitis returns to the line-up, while Leah Swain and Emmalyn Nekrep have been recalled, ready to make an impact at home.

Keeley Hardingham and Cleo Buttifant will feature in Saturday’s AFLW practice match in Perth, making them unavailable for this match, while Paula Pavic has been omitted.

Swain is no HARDINGHAM, but will give Prince another tiring big lump to combat.

It’s a pretty solid listing, but Klingbeil forced to be an emergency?!?

AFLW-listed are Barwick (5 games) and Ferres (60 games!!!)

B S. Sansonetti (55) T. Crook (30)

EMG A. Klingbeil (53) Z. Ward (59) C. Parnell (36)
P. Pavic (52) H.Brodie (47) A. Henderson (70)

Bunch of ins… not all are necessarily good. Yet to work out the outs.

We trust Ryan deep back over Porter?

Gilcrist moved to FF (we know Chaston ain’t playing there) because we moved all our key forwards to the middle.

Elsewhere many teams with a couple left-out AFLW players in the “reserves”.

Gogos (personal reasons) is an out for Darebin, making it more likely for the Cats to beat them.

Willy omit Mahony and Russell.

Sandy and Norf make mass changes.

No wind, so not too chill.

Brooker most likely to play forward, says G (don’t believe named teams).

Ryan with the mids; may not play FB as named

Brooker with the forwards.

Klaumanns-Moller with the forwards.

Molan has her right arm in a sling.

Sideshow Bob has also joined the box.
