Bunker and Gogos 18 each.
If you’re gonna mess up this competition, Sydney, do it now!
Break Footscray’s spirit!
We had 111 more disposals than Darebin (the gulf was biggest for handballs), and eventually that meant we got a reasonable score. We lost the hit-outs but doubled their clearances.
Was a day in which we didn’t have too many passengers
Our season score so far is 9.28… bloody hell.
Why not put the clip up of the mark, not the boring set shot?
I think factional warfare has broken out within the AFL code monkeys.
Website does not have a game ratio column but uses it, and therefore has the NSW teams in the top six. This is particularly pointless as even a perfect five wins is pointless in a 14-round season.
VFL app has a game ratio column (I’ve cropped it out below) and doesn’t use it. Let’s use that.
The U23s got annihilated (8-112), but Marnie Robinson got some praise for her 9 rebound fifties.
Cariss-Brett is lining up for Oakleigh tomorrow in Launceston, hence why she didn’t play this game.
15m mini-match:
Full replay:
4 of today’s 7 matches up now. Is improvement on last year.
All the games except the ones with the NSW teams up now.
QUARTER ONE
- Huta was the one who didn’t rotate on the wing in this game (played as a deep defender). Ford starts on the far wing.
- Watching this replay is not making me feel better about our kicks to forwards. But geez, Wales everywhere early and big vanLoon is doing everything she should have been doing in past weeks to stop the opposition.
- OK, the fifty was there. But it was still contrary to the spirt of the game.
- Busch acted much more guilty than Bateman, so let’s say the ump pinged her for the goal.
- DeMatteeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooo!
- Watch Mahony’s work ethic from 10:15, getting the ball out of the pack twice in rapid succession. Beats three Falcons for the first one, two for the second. We waste it both times, of course.
- Quiggles and her beagle sitting on the hill at 12:30
- Our kicking is worse than I remember…
- 18:50 for the vanLoon mark running back
QUARTER TWO
- I am still bamboozled by Huta picking up DeMatteo (even with our severe lack of bigs/talls in this game). Got away with it, though. Lots of other players marked her up, too.
- How can a commentator have THAT much time after a lasso free, and still identify Ryan as Richardson?
- LilyRose would be rather annoyed at the lasso free she concedes at the end of a 40 second niggling battle with Christgeorgl (starting just before 1:35)
- We didn’t kick as bad as this in the two games we failed to win. Tells you something about Darebin.
- 4:00 Darebin player didn’t know she’d been “punched in the head” for that free.
- Ooh, Gaylor exists!
- Orritt has a bit of niggle about her. Hanging around Richo would enhance that, I’d say.
- 13:20 for the Mahony rundown – sprinted past a few of her teammates to do that! And the resulting Chaston lead/mark/goal.
- I think Adams might already be a better mid AND back (and likely forward) than Busch.
QUARTER THREE
- That was a very weird ruck free at 1:50, especially as it wasn’t for when Richo stepped 10cm over the line and got smashed in the back for it.
- 2:20 from this angle it looks like it hit the point post. We got the point. The ump’s view was likely obscured by the Falcon.
- 5:35 Manfre goes CLUNK.
- Longer run-up than Lillee:
- 8:20 yeah, that’s a ■■■■■■■ mark
- 8:35 stay away from Richo if you want to live
- 9:30 softish free to Orritt, but LilyRose running in to remonstrate
- 10:10 I’m a bit worried about Russell’s lack of progress on last year, but this attack on the ball and player was mint. Can ruck all day against the biggest opponents (unusual for a young’un), gets lots of hit-outs but rarely to advantage, does well at ground level but would be so much more influential if she could hold those marks.
- Marginal call at 13:00, I can understand why both umpires came to their differing decisions. Ended up being an accident throw just before being tackled. We chased hard and got the free, so whatevs.
- I’m sticking with my call at the time; the ump is right there, but this first touch looks fully over… and no, it wasn’t me “gesturing for the score review”. I was just an Essendon fan looking on (from the correct balcony for that phrase!)
- 15:55 Bateman on the mark does indeed get a fingernail to the set shot, saving us 5 points.
- Watch from 16:15 to see the Ruby Murdoch leg injury. Play wasn’t stopped for a long time afterwards, despite us taking a likely game-record five marks in a row. There’s a throw-up 80 seconds afterwards, but we go another 25 seconds before getting the double whistle.
- She grabs towards the right shin, not the knee. Hopefully not achilles.
QUARTER FOUR
- Pretty slick handball by Jayda to LilyRose for the… point.
- 4:30 Gaylor definitely exists: sticky fingers to complete the tackle and get the free.
- Good to see Mahony can be an effective forward. Davidge (still only 19yo) getting a chunk of her time as a full-time mid. Worth noting Sarah Ford has only one centre “bounce” attendances in this game (the very last one, at which neither of Mahony or Davidge us in attendance).
- 9:30 goal ump has the best view and readies his fingers to signal the goal for Melnikas… but the field ump comes in to over-ride him.
- Davidge takes her contractually-obliged CLUNK, and converts.
- 13:40 @melnikasblindturn
- Huta does not have a left foot.
- 16:30 for OOTF of the year by Melnikas
- 17:35 LilyRose comes out of the pack with sore fingers
