- Mia-Rae Clifford - quiet game
- Cecilia Mcintosh - quiet game
- Kendra Heil - still only 10 disposals on the wing. Had some nice efforts though (the video above being one of them).
- Simone Nalder - Borg won, but it wasn’t a blow-out. Nalder had a dozen disposals and has a big crater in her back where Milford whacked her.
- Alex Morcom – she often looks a bit unco, but gets the job done
- Courtney Ugle – back on the wing today. I’ll let @hoffy rave about her game
- Eloise Ashley-Cooper – still the under-sized KPD. No mid time yet this year. Some decent contested marks.
- Georgia Nanscawen – from somewhat limited time, 22 disposals and a game-leading 9 tackles. A notable thing this year is her improved kicking. It’s not a weapon yet, but you can rely on her for an accurate 35m punt now.
- Elizabeth Hosking – didn’t notice her much, but 10 in defense
- Nicole Julian – well, you cannot blame here for any of the Milford goals
- Marianna Anthony – bit under the radar, Marianna is. 12 and 6 tackles, but some of her kicking was ugly. I’ve got her ahead of Heil so far.
- Federica Frew – is a freak. I’m happy to say she is the single-most talented player on our list. Has this Jedi mind trick where she cons her opponents into over-committing and under-running the ball. Imagine if she got fitter. Will do some Stringer-style centre clearances later in the year.
- Danielle Marshall – first week this year she hasn’t dominated. Great contest with Milford, and I’d give her the points. That 60m running shot at goal was so close.
- Tamsin Crook – struggled the most of the KPDs, but wasn’t bad
- Eleanor Cornish – a second “nothing” week. Not convinced we have a viable second ruck option, though.
- Renee Tierney – a forward having 15 disposals, 6 marks, and 3 goals is a pretty damn nice baseline. And she’s still 19yo.
- Sarah Ford – we struggled a bit today vs AFLW mids and the best VFLW ruck. Sarah had 16 but some shaky disposal.
- Amelia Radford – 26yo Amelia, now 3 games into her VFLW career, was not flustered though. Topped the disposals for a second week, on 25, and pretty tidy.
- Jordan Zanchetta – less dominant than the first two weeks. 17 (equivalent of 25 in a 120 minute game) is fine though.
- Jessie Davies – one goal and quite a a few “almost” moments.
- Grace Dicker – full-time forward today, which was a bit surprising. But not complaining about a couple goals, 10 disposals, and 7 tackles.

Brendan Major’s interview is roughly 11-12 minutes in.

Since no one could answer this on the day (well, maybe Brendan Rhodes of Casey Radio would have it in his personal stash of records), I documented our goal-kicking history.
-
First to goal: Alex Quigley (2018 game 1)
-
First to kick two goals in a match: Kendra Heil (2018-3)
-
First to kick three goals in a match: Monique Dematteoooooooooooooooo (2019-1)
-
Subsequent three goal games: Quigley (2019-4), Mia-Rae Clifford (2021-3 + 2021-8 + 2022-2), Federica Frew (2021-9), Jessie Davies (2021-14 + 2022-1), Natalie MacDonald (2022-1), Cecilia McIntosh (2022-1), Renne Tierney (2022-2 + 2022-3)
-
First to kick four goals in a match: Federica Frew (2022-3)
-
First to kick five goals in a match: Federica Frew (2022-3)
-
First to kick six goals in a match: Federica Frew (2022-3)
Before this past weekend Quigley, Frew, and Clifford were tied on 19 goals (I’ve listed them in order of arrival at that tally).
Federica now stands well clear on the top of our list of 49 goal-scorers.
2018: Quigley and Moreau kicked 7 goals. DeMatteo and Ponter on 6.
2019: Quigley 10, DeMatteo 9, Stepnell 8, Stassi 7
2021: Clifford 16, Frew 14, Barba 11, Davies 7
Goals per game can be a harsh metric based on when you played for us, but we have a clear and new leader right now:
- Tierney 8/3=2.67
- Frew 25/19=1.32
- Arthurina Morren 5/4=1.25
- Ponter 6/6=1
- Manfre 1/1=1
- Clifford 19/20=.95
- Stassi 7/8=.88
- Quigley 19/23=.83
- DeMatteo 15/19=.79
To demonstrate the harsh metric I noted above, we need two goals this week to reach our 2018 season total
From League email to media re: match review panel
Grace Dicker – Essendon (VFLW)
The Match Review Panel charged player Dicker for Rough Conduct on Carlton FC player Brooke Vernon during the third quarter of the VFLW Round 3 match between Carlton and Essendon on Sunday 27 February at IKON Park.
Based on the available video evidence and medical report, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct with Severe Impact and High Contact. The incident has been referred directly to the VFL Tribunal.
Was that the ribs or the neck injury?
Neck - went off on a stretcher.
Ta, is she okay?
The rib injury girl went away in an ambulance after the game. She didn’t look good.
Faaaaaaaaark me, that’s an AFL-style OutcomeLotto decision.
Blind Freddie knows that wasn’t the worst sling of the day.
