This Sunday morning at 11.30am the Bombers take on the Southern Saints at the Sandringham VFL ground.
The ‘Southern Saints’ are St Kilda AFL - not to be confused with old VWFL club St Kilda Sharks who left the league at the end of last year - playing games out of Frankston and Sandringham until Moorabbin’s reno is completed.
Game will have both a radio and video stream - For DJR, I’ll have the little 89.1 FM transmitter set-up, so you can hear the game delay free at the ground.
Radio ‘RSN Carnival’ digital radio, RSN Racing & Sport app and rsn.net.au/digital-radio (from 11am).
Video Stream VFL.com.au and the VFL app (from 11.25am)
The Saints (6th) made it two wins in a row after beating the Casey Demons last week to take their record to 2-1. The Bombers (12th) remain winless after three rounds and suffered their biggest loss against NT Thunder last round.
KEY QUESTION
Can Essendon string four quarters together? The Bombers came out of nowhere to challenge the Thunder early in their Round 3 clash in Darwin, kicking four straight goals to lead by two points at quarter time but failing to score again as NT piled on the goals. It was Essendon’s best quarter of the season so far and the team should build on that effort to grab its first win of the season.
KEY STAT
Southern’s Ali Drennan has arguably been her team’s best player this season, standing out in both victories, including a performance of 22 disposals, 12 tackles and an important clutch goal in last week’s win against Casey. Bombers midfielders will need to be wary with Drennan teaming up with in-form ruck Rhiannon Watts, as Watts serves the ball to her teammate on a silver platter.
