Ditto
We’re slipped into sixth spot. If they cancel the remaining games for the round we can stay there. Casey vs the Saints tomorrow, one will get past us.
Kicks were almost the same, but you can pick the different styles of play via:
We wanted to move it fast, and the Pies did not.
… led to…
We’ve got work to do up forward (CLIFFORD IS BACK NEXT WEEK) and then we can be very dangerous.
Meg’s set shot kicking has… not been great.
But HOW GOOD?!?
Bench and the rest of the girls GO NUTS.
(Yeah, that’s probably my lower octaves.)
Better live coverage today
Did you find Michael Long’s apology as you were walking around the ground. Apparently they are giving them away.
Cornish… who wasn’t playing today.
In other matches, the Cats confirmed their top of the ladder status by beating Footscray 43-15. Footscray are NOT your typical one-win-from-five-games bad, but sit near the bottom regardless.
Willy has jumped FCFC and lead 13-1. GOOOOOOOOO!!!
Annoyingly the stream for that one is DEAD.
Darebin are back at the previously-switched-from Preston City Oval. They host Norf… who have been crap since Marianna left them, but may still do bad things to the Falcons.
Today was, somehow, Maddi Wilson’s first non-practice goal for us.
It was the fifth time Grace Dicker has kicked two goals; had chances to get that PB third.
The FC stream is up, and they are now trailing 1-20!
Today was frustrating, but promising in many ways.
Our backline remains an overt strength. Georgia Clarke slotted straight in and starred there in the first half, before going forward and being dangerous there too. Got size, can mark, and a pretty big kick too.
Ashley-Cooper did her job comfortably down back. Had a play late in the game where she dodged past multiple Pies on a postage stamp.
Kenny had her best game of the year, especially when she didn’t have the ball.
Doonan was good, but Radford was great. Barba racked it up inside the packs. Ugle spent time on the wing and half-back (particularly damaging during the latter). The crew is back together!
Amber Clarke had her best VFLW game so far. Was un-catchable, and her kicking was particularly damaging.
Ryan was second ruck today but continued being beastly all over the ground. I’d suggest Russell is going to struggle to get a game until Wales goes into AFLW pre-season.
Wilson Chaston and Hart-Aluni all had chances near goal, and mostly blew them. It helped when Clarke moved forward, giving us a mobile marking tall. Having Clifford back will help, not just for herself but also as THE forward leader.
Dicker spent more time forward this week than in the first month, and was consequently the game’s leading goal kicker.
Prpic did some nice team and pressure things.
Keck was a terrier forward till she got injured.
Willy lead ladder leader FCFC 26-2 at half-time!
Norf lead poor Darebin 25-0 at quarter time…
Ex-Bomber Emma Mackay makes a huge kick into fifty and Mifsud marks it one-handed. And goals!
Yay Darebin!
I’m not for fairness. The AFL sent their photographer to the Darebin-Norf game. Pls.
Darenin won the second quarter. 18-34 at halftime.
We’re gone 16 minutes without a score at Princes Park. I’ll take that.
EDIT: ump immediately gives FC a fifty to gift them a goal.
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.
FC started it, Willy finished it with a huge sling tackle. It was just before the siren and on the wing, so no damage unless reported.
Willy lead 26-8 at the final break. Willy can’t catch us, but FCFC can slump from 1st to 4th.
“Klarke” got in our offical Bests.
Essendon’s VFLW side have made it two in a row as they defeated Collingwood at Victoria Park.
The Bombers looked strong all day to record a 4.7 (31) to 2.3 (15) win over arch rivals, the Magpies, in the Anzac round clash.
AFLW listed players, Amelia Radford and Alana Barba led the way in the mid-field combining for 49 disposals as they showed their experience all day.
Grace Dicker lead all scorers with two majors, while Meg Ryan and Maddi Wilsonkicked one each.
Alana Barba had 11 tackles putting the pressure on the Magpies all afternoon.
After a long term injury, the Bombers welcomed back Eloise Ashley-Cooper for the first time in 2023 - finishing the match with 11 touches and 5 tackles.
AFLW ruck, Steph Wales also took to the field for the first time in 2023 and finished with 19 hit-outs and 15 disposals.
ESSENDON: 1.2 2.2 3.4 4.7 (31)
COLLINGWOOD: 1.0 1.1 1.2 2.3 (15)
ESS GOALS: Dicker (2), Ryan (1), Wilson (1)
ESS BEST: Radford, Barba, Klarke, Doonan, Wales
