VFLW - Round 5 vs Saints @ The Hangar, 11AM Sunday 13 Mar 2022

Footscray are right on the fringe of increasing their percentage: 10.6% when entering this game, 9.8% percent today. Another point would make today 11.5%…

Jessie got out at the right time.

Spoke too soon… 58 seconds into the third quarter, the Hawks goal

In the Port game, Dudley already has 25 hit-outs… and zero for every other stat!

On zero goals three points is Dematteoooooooooooooo. She’s leading the disposal tally though!

Dudley now has a tackle… ruining the beauty of her stats.

Play of the Day just there… Port put on the afterburners on the wing, took a bounce on the wing – the ball refused to bounce, dribbled, then popped up perfectly on second bounce to the runner. She kicked long to Sophie Locke, who took on and beat two Pies before kicking long for the mark in range. A quick centring kick to front of the goals, and they converted.

9 points to make up with 6 minutes left. Would have been 2 points except for some Chaston brilliance.

Dojiok on the full from twenty out in front… I was going to say she should handball at every opportunity, and then she follows up by collecting in the pocket and kicking it through on the run on the silly angle.

Pies win 42-21

Dogs now 7-94…

Hawks have cracked the 100. Yikes. Bloodbath.

The only commentary from Deakin Uni Geelong is the wind. #7 pick in last year’s AFLW draft starts a chain from the wing that sees Geelong lead 2.1.13 to Casey’s 1.5.11.

Mia Skinner kicks a long dribbling goal after the siren to lead 19-11 (yes, the video stream says 13-17, as they gave that goal to the wrong team). The last bounce was a leg break to avoid going across the face.

190cm Maggie Caris almost does something good at the first clearance; gets run down by Friswell.

Maggie is up against big (but shorter) sister Rene Caris.

Casey have many big girls, compared to us.

Game has opened up a bit in the third quarter, with the Cats leading 34-28 late in it. ideal result is probably a narrow Cats win, which gives us a chance to be a game plus lots of percentage free on top of the ladder after tomorrow.

34-34 at the last break. Casey ran into goal with seconds left; had time to slow and compose; did not, and failed to score.

Casey win 6.9.45 to Cats 5.4.34

Once the game opened up, Casey were clearly better. They very nearly stuffed it though: they kicked 1.5 and an on-the-full in the last quarter, assisted by some pretty marginal umpiring, and Geelong twice gave away sloppy head-high tackles to prevent themselves scoring.

We need to beat the Saints to stay on top of the ladder.

Can we fire this code monkey already? You have a match ratio column: use it!

Hahaha hate losing that top spot. Here’s hoping we are back up top this time tomorrow.

Fark Carlton, wearing surrender white, trail Darebin 14-21 at halftime. Darebin clunked in the goal square with a second left to extend their lead.

2:47 left. Darebin lead 24-22 and have the ball at CHF after a Fark Carltoner got reported for a high tackle.

Series of stoppages in the Darebin fifty arc…

FARK FCFC!

30-22 with seconds left.

Darebin is in 7th, two wins and a bit of percentage ahead of Fark Carlton.

I’m a bit nervous today, team…

BMajor says AshleyCooper will spend time midfield today (Hosking presumably fills her position down back).
