- First EFC VFLW goal for Matilda Dyke
- First EFC goal for Ava Jordan
- First consecutive EFC goaling games for Scarlett Orritt
- First bag of three goals for Emily Tassiopoulos AND Tia Davidge
- Tassiopoulos joins Emily Gough and Paige Scott on a rate of 1.33 goals per game, second only to Fede Frew on 1.48.
Weâd like the Saints to beat the Hawks tomorrow.
Darebin smashing FCFC
Huge percentage gap against the only team that likely matters (Casey).
Ange Gogos 28 disposals +7 tackles + 10 clearances vs FCFC. Rapidly sealing her league lead in the Coach Votes award.
I was like the commentator, was sure sheâd swung it too far to the leg side.

Three-quarter-time, when I was lazy.
(Donât expect lots of photos this week; Casey had a photographer so maybe weâll scrape a few from there. EFC did good live coverage.)
Jed Beaton = 12yo who recently died of melanoma which spread to the brain
Michael Licciardo is presumably the below roles, not sure what the story is:
- Premiership Player at Parkside
- 2 x Senior Team of the Year WRFL,
- Played most of Senior Football at Melton (BFL)
- Coached U19s Ballarat Interleague side 2019
- Senior Assistant at Melton (4 years)
- Senior Assistant East Keilor

And replay of our biggest score in 692 days:
Todayâs second quarter:
2022 semi-finalâs second quarter:
We did it faster today!
QUARTER ONE
- Can I skip this quarter?
- âJAKESâ gets the first free. From the snippets Iâve seen, weâre going to get some interesting pronunciations today!
- 1:45 from >100m away I could see that was a handpass. The ump with the square mousey haircut (heâll cop more mentions) canât see it from 5 metres awayâŚ
- 2:10 âMoylenâ
- 2:15 âMorcromâ
- 2:30 âTissyopoulosâ
- 12:05 Bateman illustrating why you play to the whistle: clamped onto the victim, pinned the âfreeâ arm, and waited for the HTB call. Everyone else had stopped and was waiting for the stoppage.
- 13:40 second time Hunt has kicked âthatâ goal; the other was in her debut.
- This is Molanâs first CBA this year! Sheâ;; spend the day flipping between mid and forward. And âMoylenâ does get the clearance and kick deep into our forward line.
- 15:10 yeah, you donât want to be hit in the face by the bicep of Swain
- My brain canât even work out how he pronounced Melnikas. Maybe it will be clearer at a later stage.
- 18:35 Ryan got yoiked off stage left by a crook, and the ump didnât see it.
- 19:15 yeah, it was two-on-one, but nice mark Bateman.
QUARTER TWO
- âMa-hone-eeâ⌠this is used by some people, but not by Ruby.
- 1:45 the reason Iâm particularly peeved by the lack of fifties paid for us vs GWS is that Melnikas gets pinged for standing for a fraction of a second 8m out, not 9m, out. Squarehead ump pings her for it with no warning. Funny thing is the Demon doesnât realise and he doesnât make her take the fifty.
- 2:05 âMel-a-nikisâ⌠to be honest, I donât know if itâs the above minus the invented middle âaâ, or âMel-nikkerâ
- That was certainly a shot âatâ goal. Yikes.
- 7:20 Great pratfall by Lin. At this stage (9-8) I was worried weâd missed our chancesâŚ
- 8:00 Jacques clearance to Huggard, to Ryan who fumbles the ball at her feet. Huggard makes up for that, handballs to Mahony, to âMorcromâ. She kicks long inside fifty. Hunt shrugs the tackle and gets it to âDuh-vidge" steaming through. Itâs a tumbling kick but itâs a GOAL.
- 9:35 you know it was good candy-selling by Porter when itâs conning Trev 100 metres away in the grandstand.
- 10:35 Nice contested mark from behind by Tassiopoulos (who he is pronouncing closer to reality now). She is 20 rather than most of the newbies at 19, but her stick figure arms cause her to be underestimated.
- 11:00 Wait, now sheâs (correctly) âDav-idgeâ⌠goal two for Tia!
- 12:55 soft-ish push free for EMT! Oi! Oi! Oi! â goal.
- 15:00 Dyke gets the ruck free 52m from goal. Casey run through the protected zone but the fifty apparently is downfield instead. But not a free for that player, as Dyke keeps the ball. The mark is set at 9m out, and not on the obviously correct slight angle. Seriously people, this is very basic maths. Dyke walks right up to the mark because she canât understand why the Demon is 7m over the correct placement. She goals regardless, and is HAPPY.
- âMorcromâ is the only EFC player to be in this game and that 2022 semi-final.
- Dyke successive centre clearances.
- The audio doesnât capture it all, but as Jacques runs to the contest from 17:15 she is screaming âMINEâ⌠for some reason, Demon Johnson ignores her
- 17:30 Melnikas place kick off the ground, Mahony puts on the afterburners to dodge a tackle, and Tassiopoulos goals.
- But her first name is now "Emeliaâ.
QUARTER THREE
- Robinson (0:50) and Dyke (2:30) and Hunt (4:40) cop some decent blows early.
- 7:20 the first of several botches by Gamble leads to the Lin goal.
- sFord and Morcom very lucky not to be called throwing and HTB this quarter.
- sFord everywhere through the middle of this quarter.
- 13:35 Hunt is MANIFESTLY DEMONSTRATIVE after being shepherded out of her lead. Overtly illegal; but now she knows what it is like to be a forward! Screams a bit, then CHARGES the pack to release her frustration.
- 14:30 Jacques rundown tackle 12m out⌠apparently she is a âbrilliant kick of the footyâ⌠subsequently misses.
- 17:00 the score is 42-26 after the Horne one marks and goals⌠was a bit nervous, but we are going to score the remaining 25 points!
- 18:00 HUGE rebound by Chaston, Jordan scoots off to goal, and the pressure is removed.
- 19:40 Dykeâs untiring legs means she is the player closest to the Casey goals, and take the saving mark and immediately call for us to slow it all down.
QUARTER FOUR
- 1:40
Royce HartTassiopoulos mark. - Orritt doesnât have a huge number of disposals in this game â but she does a lot of physical unrewarded stuff
- Jatczak does get into the game late. Her and Swain did remarkably little damage. As I write this at 5:10 in, Chaston is on Swain at FB
- 7:20 look at those little legs of Jordan going as fast as they possibly can!
- Morrow likes celebrating her team mates kicking goals at least as much as that dog behind the Napier Street goals likes chasing that tennis ball.
- 12:25 Hunt decides to redo her hair, gets drawn into the action with it everywhere, and ex-AFLW teammate Bonnie Toogood thinks it is HILARIOUS.
- As a resting mid, Mahony is a ferocious player forward.
- Big mark by Morcs at 14:10. Leads directly to the Orritt goal.
- Swain is sometimes clumsy, but is also sometimes blatantly illegal; is rarely punished. Throws Melnikas away without the ball at 19:50 (screen time, not game time)
- But she does get called for the throttling of Tassiopoulos, at least! Third goal!
- We have a new type of errorâŚ
Morrow is just resting till Dyke heads off to AFLW training. Very disappointed I didnât get four Ms in the middle at any time.

The final scoreline read Essendon 10.7 (67) to Casey Demons 4.2 (26), reflecting the tough battle that unfolded on the field.
The first half saw Essendon asserting their authority, with Casey struggling to find their rhythm. Essendon capitalised on their home-ground advantage, showcasing their skill and precision to lead at the halftime break.
However, the Casey Demons rallied in the third quarter, mounting a spirited comeback. They managed to stifle Essendonâs scoring opportunities while finding their rhythm in attack.
This resurgence was ignited by Niamh OâNeill, whose goal in the second quarter injected much-needed energy into the Casey side.
Meg Macdonald stood tall in the midfield, amassing an impressive 20 disposals for the match. Her tireless work rate and composure under pressure provided the Demons with a crucial link between defence and attack.
Jo Lin emerged as a beacon of inspiration for Casey, showcasing her tenacity and creativity throughout the match. Despite the result, Linâs relentless efforts around the ball culminated in a well-deserved goal, providing a spark for the Dees.
Emma Horne contributed a crucial goal for Casey, demonstrating her ability to impact the scoreboard when it mattered most. However, despite their best efforts, Casey found themselves unable to fully counter Essendonâs relentless attacks.
Siobhan Sheerin showcased her goal-scoring skill, snapping a quick goal in the third quarter to provide a glimmer of hope for the Demons.

Although the result didnât go Caseyâs way, the Demons displayed resilience and fighting spirit throughout the match. The team will regroup and look to bounce back in their next fixture against Brisbane back on home turf at Casey Fields.
