VFLW - Round 8 vs Hawks @ Box Hill City Oval, 12noon Sat 13 May 2023

In theory the winner could be top of the ladder, but it’s probably safe to say Geelong can scrape over the line vs Darebin…

Excellent chance to pass Port (vs Sts) and maybe Pies (vs Norf).

Stats Leaders (leaders, us, Hawks, maybe a few others).

Apart from goals, the numbers below are averages… but the rankings are sorted by totals.

Hawks team has been self-published.

We (Jayda Richardson) killed Aine McDonagh seven weeks ago, and she’s finally back.

Handy INs for them with Matser and Mifsud.

From the Hawthorn website:

Hawthorn AFLW forward Aine McDonagh will return from a rib injury which has sidelined her since Round 1 while co-vice-captain Jordan Mifsud has also been named.

The additions are rounded out by reliable ruck Grace Matser and Eastern Ranges product Hayley McLaughlin, who will make her VFLW debut.

Coming out of the side are Jess Vukic, Ava Campbell, Laura Elliott and Hannah Fosbrooke.

Teams for this week

So Scott > Chaston (most of the time).

Hurrell = Davidge

Bateman and Pearson <<<< Bella and vanLoon.

We still have five top-level key defenders named, though!

Orritt features in the emergencies for the first time this year.

Fuller breakdown of changes vs round one to come later.

Four changes is our smallest turnover this year.

Kendra out for a second week.

No milestones this week.

Looks like Bella’s pillow needed to be bigger.

OUT:
B. Clarke (quad)
A. van Loon (managed)
E. Chaston
T. Davidge

The Hawks’ four outs are all omissions.

Elsewhere, Liz Hosking is out concussed.

Was it a glancing blow?

Welcome to Nutbush City Limits Box Hill City Oval.

I hope you enjoy that ear worm as much as I do.

Ground is very wet, and with modest sun and no wind will remain that way well into the game.

Today’s coverage will suck as I forgot my binoculars…

LOL at Paige Scott jumping up during the stretches to bomb a goal from forty.

Naughty girl.

Cornish a warm-up player. I’d say that means no change, given our surplus of rucks and talls.

Sun is out!

Prespakis helping in the warm-up (or at least not getting in the way). Ryan gives her a bear hug and swings her like a little doll.

Scott and Pearson with the forwards.
