VFLW - Round 9 vs Fark Carlton @ Windy Hill, 11AM Saturday 1 May 2021

Yes, Windy Hill! Also gets used by the men the next day.

@PH_WARFRadio will be present, I will be interstate.

These are the games you have to win, and win well to keep ahead of Geelong and Casey.

P.S. Fark Carlton.

I’ll be there eating a hotdog because FINALLY FOOD.

Come down and cheer the girls in RadioDJR’s place. I’ll even print you the named team list if you ask*.

*I’ll have to get a named team list…

Cathy why are the current AFLW clubs and AFL management so threatened by the possibility of Essendon joining?

Is it because they know Essendon will be the biggest AFLW club and hog all the sponsors leaving the smaller Vic clubs with scraps like what happens in the mens game?

Admit it, it’s true.

The recently-demonstrated fastest player in the AFLW is back for us this week: Ruby Svarc from the Bears.

Caruso returns in the back pocket after a month or so off.

Oh yeah, and…The Honey Badger is back!

Out, in order to roughly match the above ins: Theodore, Julian, Dicker (emergency)

Meanwhile, this week 75% of the Calder Cannons’ key position players are EFC-listed: Gillard, Crowley, and Lennox. Prespakis, Yassir, and Friswell are all named in the middle. They’re in an elimination final versus top-of-the-ladder Oakleigh.

In our emergencies this week you will notice Finning (from the Bendigo Pioneers; their season is over).

There’s some good “ins”.

1 2 3 Go Bombers

Really happy Ruby is back playing with us.

We know nothing about her form apart from her comfortably winning the Grand Final sprint. Didn’t get an AFLW game this year; don’t know if she had a fallback league, can’t find one.

I think she has been training with Lions Academy too

Ruh roh… I mean, bring it on.

THE VFLW Blues will be bolstered by an influx of AFLW-listed Game Changers for their Round 9 clash with Essendon on Saturday morning.

With the AFLW season formally wrapped up and a number of senior players completing training blocks, the VFLW side will be able to take advantage of available talent.

Fark Carlton will take four changes into the weekend’s clash away from home, eager to get back on the winner’s list after consecutive losses.

The Blues’ back line will be bolstered by standout defender Charlotte Wilson, fresh off her most consistent season yet in Navy Blue.

Also named in Fark Carlton’s backline is 2020 AFLW draftee Daisy Walker after playing six senior games in 2021.

The midfield has also received extra star power, with Grace Egan and Abbie McKay named in the line-up for Round 9.

Egan and McKay both played all nine senior games in 2021, with Egan finishing in the top 10 for Fark Carlton’s top honours and McKay earning a Round 3 NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination in a breakthrough season.

Missing Saturday’s clash at Windy Hill will be Winnie Laing (managed), Mikayla Barnes (injured), Sarah Ingram (omitted) and Jasmine Ware (injured).

Fark Carlton have bashed up a few weak teams this year, but broadly been unimpressive. Last week they lost 1.0.6 to Norf 6.11.47!

The week before, the then-undefeated Port gave them a decent lead then ran all over them in the second half to win 46-40.

In the rain they lost 4-22 to the Pies.

The week before the Hawks topped up with a bunch of AFLW players, the Farkers beat them 65-35 (and it was 64-10 at three quarter time, with no wind playing into that).

It seems that if we can apply the pressure (and that has been a strength of ours this year) they’ll fold.

@Catherine_Lio - below is the pdf file of our call sheet, which has both teams in numerical order.

And the game will also allegedly be shown on Youtube at:

You’re a champion - thank you. Also, :rage:

So Svarc in 41. Was 28 back in 2019.

That still leaves some gaps under 30 in our jumper numbers.

Oh ye of little faith!

From 10am:

Federica two kicks fail to convert… ump gives Fark Carlton a fifty and…

Expect little commentary; I’m watching the stream on the phone while I can but that’s it.

I’m scoreboard so I will be quiet too but…
