The fiftiest fifty to ever fifty… not paid to “Frederica” Frew, thus robbing us of five points. Umpire looks but somehow does not see.
The candy she sold was sweet though. One day she will convert all the chances and kick 6+. She was very generous handing off the goal to Davies near the end.

CBomb smothers the shot on goal. Caruso dodges trouble, does a one-two with Stepnell, and goes long to the wing. Frew shepherds Hosking and gets the ball back from her. Long kick is over the top but Clifford can’t make it work. A Fark Carltoner collects the ball but is smashed by a Snell tackle: the ball spills free, and Svarc may not have a left boot but she has enough pace to allow her to use the right. GOAL.

Clifford also played her 75th VFLW game on the weekend. Has by far the highest VFLW tally in our squad (+18 AFLW) – Quigley got dropped straight after her 50th earlier this year, but is much younger so could overtake her if she gets back in.
Of course, the modern VFLW (founded in 2016) is only a fragment of many players’ experience. CBomb only had 2 VFLW games before joining us, but started footy in 2007 after giving up on national and international weightlifting, javelin throwing, and bobsledding. Based on her improvement from 2019 to 2021, she’s just getting started…
