I had fibre to the premises while renting in Cranny for a while. So much better.
I was able to watch the Eagles game by screen casting on my google pixel 4 using the AFL app and my Chromecast. I just had to start the game then screen cast. Other way around wouldn’t work. Didn’t get the best frame rate but was watchable and free.

I’m thinking I might end up with something similar. Sure I get it that the picture quality might be a bit off, but my eysight’s not great anyway.

more things run 2.4ghz should always try to use 5 unless youre going for range.

Just found a long enough Ethernet cable and have connected directly.
Assume this is best as eliminates any potential interference on Wireless.
I notice all the 2018 Replays are on Kayo, but appear to only be in 720.
Watchable, but a discernible difference to 1080.
Can someone else confirm this ?

Yep. Wired when you can. Wireless if (and only if) you must.
As for the 2.4GHz vs 5.0GHz… 2.4GHz is slightly better for range and penetration of solid objects. However it’s subject to interference from things like cordless phones and microwaves. Also, being an older technology, there’s a lot of other devices using the spectrum, making it more congested, and subject to dropping packets, which need to be re-sent and slows the whole process up.

That info is very consistent with how I tend to obtain internet connection efficiently around the home.

Kayo is cheap. Better than putting up with Foxtel ridiculous pricing regardless of the speeds or whatever you’re all talking about.
I’ve had Kayo for a year. A mate and I share it so we shell out $12.50pw each. Can’t complain about that at all.
I’ve also got copper to the house and get about 35mbps and have never had a problem watching a game live. It’s never stalled or cut out once.
Likewise,… split mine with the Nephew.

I watched on my phone and it was fine. I watched the replay and it was ok, interestingly watching the cricket minis and basketball replays the picture is much better than AFL. Not sure why. Will give it more time.

You’re obviously on high speed unlimited plan, that would use 15plus gb per hr.

Don’t know if I would call it high speed, though I seem to be maintaining 1080 consistently for AFL & NBA since I got it 2 weeks ago !
Unfortunately mate - FTTN is a crap-shoot, and often simply ‘crap’.
Can you run a speed check (at a similar time) and tells us the result?

I was going to say they all 4 won’t be @ 1080, (and don’t need to be at that size), … but they do look to all be at 720 to me.
All depends how close you are to the “Node”. Within 500 metres (IIRC) they can guarantee you min 50mbps, but beyond that they can’t, … then at another distance I cant recall, it’s max at 25mbps.
