There’s a little bit to it, … but follow the guys instructions properly and it’s not that hard at all, . including giving the fake name number and some spam email account you have. (Not even sure if a real one of those is needed)

it looks like it’s even easier at step 4. For New Users, just open the “Join Kayo Now” link via the BetEasy website and sign up.
I cancelled foxtel after the 2019 season. Last week I signed up to kayo on the 3 month trial for the west coast game.
I have fibre to the node ndn, on the highest package with Mate.
It was crap…wouldn’t stream the whole game live. I had to keep refreshing constantly. When the game was done I was only up to three quarter time.
I will be cancelling and mirroring the afl app to the tv instead. I’m with telstra for my mobile and so the app is data free.
I piggy backed on the back of TwoDogs Jr’s account. I’ve got a 2017 Samsung 4K tv and the app popped one evening which alerted me to the fact that most modernish sets now support it. Fark you Foxtel and your $850 pa subscription and dumb package options.
Don’t give up on it just yet mate, … it certainly shouldn’t be that bad.
Were you casting from the phone or using a Laptop/DT Puter?
If so, … (Lap/D top) What browser were you running it through? Did you try others?
Where you running an hdmi to the TV? Were you running the Laptop via wi fi, or a Lan?
The problems you report seem likely to be more down to one or more of these things rather than your connection or Kayo itself.
If you’re running through a phone (Nephew does) IIRC, it has to be a fairly modern one with heaps of RAM to work well.
Xbox one direct through hdmi cable to the telly.
Ive got three months free so will give the laptop a go, same connection and see what happens.
My home desk top is kick ■■■■, I use Qbase recording software on it with plenty of grunt left, but its in my office miles away from the main footy watching telly so I wont be using that.

Would have zero idea on that set up. 
If you can run a LAN to your Lappy, and HDMI out to the box, you should get a much better result.
My Laptop is a HP of modest power CPU wise with simple integrated Graphics chip and a mere 4 gig of RAM (ATM), and it runs fine. Last year I got the best results using EDGE , but this year it seems F Fox is the go for some reason.
Chrome works, … but tends to just suck & build up memory usage until it borks out for some reason for me, so if you had 8 Gig ( as I soon will have) you may not suffer that issue.
Had Kayo for a week.
My Apple TV was connected to my Network via wireless 2.4Ghz and I was struggling to maintain 720, mostly 540 and sometimes lower…WTF.
Then I changed to 5Ghz and have seen consistent 1080 on all AFL & NBA since.
Very happy with the picture quality on a 3 year old 55" Hisense.
Will definitely connect via Ethernet to avoid any potential Wireless problems.

No drama streaming movies, gaming or any other related activities that way, so I beg to differ.
Those other options you mention sound like way to much work, and disruption to the general running of the house compared to plugging the smart phone in to the telly and using the app, which suprisingly never skips a beat no matter what country I’m in.
