Dutch girl fakes Asia trip on Facebook
THE friends and family of a Dutch student watched with envy on Facebook as she posted pictures of her South East Asia adventure.
Zilla van den Born shared photos of herself on exotic beaches, visiting temples and sampling the local cuisine.
But she was at home in Amsterdam the whole time.

The 25-year-old faked the trip using Photoshop and props from her house, to show how easy it is to create a filtered image of our lives on social media.
Zilla‘s parents dropped her at the airport on 23 April, believing she was off to see Thailand, Cambodia and Laos over a month-long holiday.
Instead, she secretly returned to her flat, and lived undercover while posting fake images and status updates on Facebook.
“I did this to show people that we filter and manipulate what we show on social media,†she said. “Thereby we create an online ideal world which reality can no longer meet. My goal was to prove how common and easy it is to distort reality.â€

The graphic designer spent most of her time indoors to avoid bumping into people she knew, wearing sunglasses and a hat as a disguise when she went out.
Meanwhile, she turned her flat into an Asian paradise, setting up a hotel shot using draped fabrics and fairy lights.
She photoshopped herself into images of beautiful beaches, temples and tropical gardens.
She even sent a postcard home and photographed herself snorkelling in her local swimming pool.
When the university project was complete, she revealed the truth to her friends and family and filmed their shocked reactions.
It just goes to show — other people‘s lives may not be as perfect as they seem on Facebook.

Sep 13, 2014 2:27PM<p>A CHINESE man died after donating sperm four times in 10 days.</p>
Zheng Gang, 23, was found slumped over and unconscious when staff broke down the door at a private booth in the Wuhan University clinic in Hubei Province.
They‘d become concerned when he hadn‘t emerged from the booth in more than two hours, the New York Post reports.
The death occurred in 2012 but has only been made public now because Mr Gang‘s family have launched legal action against the sperm bank because they feel the clinic is responsible for his death.
They claim staff made him sign up and have demanded $648,545 in compensation.
As part of their claim they have alleged he was pressured into making regular donations and staff did not properly handle the situation when they first found him.
But their claim hasn‘t been successful.
A court has ruled his death was entirely his own fault because he was capable of making his own decisions, including regular sperm donations.
Mr Gang had been studying to be a doctor. He joined the sperm bank program in 2011 and was known to visit it regularly — even encouraging others to make their own donations.
Let that be a warning to regulars in the HCT...

l have a local friend who has just returned to Wuhan, l should ask her if she has heard of this story.

This is old news - People have been doing this for years - How many times have I seen acquaintances take pics next to a Ferrari whilst travelling and implying they hired the car, or walking into a luxurious five star hotel, when they are really staying at a 3 star hotel or a backpackers. It's all about image.
Or make up some yahoo email accounts - Wait a month and you start getting messages from Facebook - Somehow you have the skeleton of a facebook profile - All those people investing in facebook on the basis of X number of profiles/members,when in fact it is really Y number of profiles/members.
