Beer got me into this mess, and as [insert preferred messiah here] is my witness, beer is going to get me out of it.

Dionysus was the Greek God of Beer so he's the man for the job I think.

wasnt he the god of wine or was that Silenus? Or was it just alcohol in general?

<strong><span style="font-size:24px;">'Vote for the black guy', Port Adelaide council election posters urge</span></strong>

A local government candidate in Adelaide is gaining attention for his posters urging people to "vote for the black guy".

Nkweto Nkamba, originally from Zambia, denied he was adding any racist undertone to the coming council election for Port Adelaide-Enfield, where he is a candidate in The Parks ward.

He said there was nothing about his posters which pushed any message about racial superiority or inferiority and his motivation was no more than to get people to remember him at voting time.

"I think it's an education [for] society of what racist is," he said.

"I'm actually coming out in a humble way, I'm an easy-going guy, if you like me, vote for me."

Mr Nkamba promotes himself as NK on his posters.

"When you look at my name I think quite a lot of people cannot pronounce that or remember that," he said.

He said he wanted to take a humorous path to being remembered.

"The response has been overwhelmingly good. People have come out and laughed with me, taken photos with me," he said.

"These boys came and [looked at] the posters [and said] 'We want to put it in the back of our ute'."

<span style="font-size:14px;">'This is a man who is comfortable in his skin'</span>

The candidate said he sensed relief among people because he was able to make a positive point about skin colour.

"People have recognised I'm very comfortable with who I am, people have appreciated that," he said.

"In a number of comments on Facebook, people have said 'This is a man who is comfortable in his skin and is proud of it'.

"I think for me as well it is [about] appreciating black is not bad."

He said people had responded that his poster approach was clever, but he agreed with a suggestion it might not be a good idea for any rival candidate to promote skin colour as the approach might not be seen as original.

"It might not work to their favour," he said.

Mr Nkamba, who is an accountant, said a family link brought Australia to his attention so he ended up in Adelaide because he had long wanted to study overseas.

"I learnt of this beautiful place and it's the best decision I ever made," he said of Australia.

"I feel really appreciated and loved in this country."

Mr Nkamba said he was campaigning on issues of public safety, council maintenance work and a need to improve local sports facilities.

Local government voting is by post only and closes in early November across South Australia.

Heart-warming stuff.

“THE things that Kevin Davis confessed to doing to his mother and the way he hurt her weren‘t things you see every day.

“The crime scene was like something out of a movie.”

The statement from prosecutor Kim Gonzalez is far from a hyperbole.

After the death of Kimberly Hill in her apartment in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 26, the 18-year-old calmly told police what he had done, KZTV reported.

He told officers that he had tried to strangle his mother with a video game console power cord, reported Corprus Christi Caller Times. But she continued to scream.

He then quickly got a hammer and hit her 20 times on the back of her head.

When she was dead, he then committed necrophilia.

Clearly, video games are the real culprit.

Going off the actual article, the only thing the Gov't has actually done is request a copy of the sermons?

The rest is all supposition, kindly provided by the lawyers defending the pastors in question. Not exactly the most balanced of articles but it is from Fox...

All I got from it before I got bored was that they said some stuff but weren't prepared to stand by what they said. Seems people are all for free speech until they have to actually defend what they said.

Vinnie, are you OK?

Mysterious US spaceplane returns to Earth
_78367234_secret2.jpgThe secret spaceplane is built by manufacturer Boeing
A US plane on a top-secret, two-year mission to space has returned to Earth and landed in California.

The aircraft, resembling a miniature space shuttle and known as the Orbital Test Vehicle or X-37B, spent 674 days in orbit around the planet.

It touched down at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Friday morning.

The purpose of the plane remains unclear - a theory that it was taking a look at China's space lab has recently been downplayed by experts.

Air Force officials have only told US media the aircraft performs "risk reduction, experimentation and concept-of-operations development for reusable space vehicle technologies".

The reality is that no-one really knows what this vehicle is doing up there. The only credible explanation I have seen is that it is testing technologies that could find their way on to future satellite missions.

If you consider how expensive a satellite mission is - several hundred million dollars - you'd like to be sure that any innovations are going to work straight out of the box.

By flying early prototypes on the X-37B, you can test these technologies so that when you put them on future satellite missions, you can be sure they will deliver.

Nasa recently agreed to give over work space formally used to service the shuttles at the Kennedy Space Center to the X-37B programme, which tells us this is a long-term project for the Air Force. Whatever it is they are doing up there, they deem it to be high value.

It is the third mission for the programme, started in 1999 and currently run by the Air Force's Rapid Capabilities Office.

The first plane flew in April 2010 and returned after eight months. The second launched in March 2011 and remained in space for 15 months.

The current aircraft - built by Boeing - utilises solar panels for power in orbit, measures over 29ft (9m) long, has a wingspan of nearly 15ft and a weight of 11,000lbs (4,989 kg).

A fourth X-37B mission is said to currently be slated for launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in 2015.

Europe is to test its own automated spaceplane technology in the coming weeks, reports BBC News science correspondent Jonathan Amos.

The IXV vehicle will be launched into space atop a rocket from French Guiana and then make its way back through the atmosphere to splash down in the ocean.

But the European programme would be a civilian one, so military secrecy would play no part, our correspondent adds.

Death Star moon may be 'wonky or watery'

The internal structure of one of Saturn's moons is either wonky or awash with water, according to a new study.

Mimas is nicknamed the Death Star because it resembles the infamous Star Wars space station.

That's no moon...

A COUPLE who got a little too hot and heavy while taking an ocean dip have became stuck together during sex.

The Italian couple reportedly took advantage of a deserted beach and decided to spice things up in the water, reports Italian newspaper Il Mattino.

However when they tried to end the passionate embrace they realised their genitals were stuck together.

Il Mattino reported that the man was “unable to extricate himself from the woman due to suction”.

Luckily for the couple a woman walking along the beach came to their rescue, handing them a towel as they tried to manoeuvrer from the water to the sand while still stuck together.

The pair were taken to hospital and eventually freed when a doctor administered an injection to dilate the woman‘s uterus.

my neighbor had rottweilers who would get stuck together during coitus, he'd just spray them with a hose.

For those who think we live in a free society.... really?

Not surprising.  These days one complaint is enough for most placers to shut down whatever the complaint is about.  1 million ticks of approval never overcomes one single complaint in this PC world.

Barista isn't an occupation. Surely?

Italian police uncover €1.7bn corporate fraud

_78425267_018728259-1.jpg

Italian police have uncovered a fraud which they say has cost Italian taxpayers €1.7bn (£1.3bn; $2.2bn).

Two businessmen are accused of setting up the scheme, which used false invoices to bill the state for non-existent security, cleaning and other services.

The fraud, which dates back to 2001, involved 62 people, the police say.

In total, they have seized goods worth €100m related to the crime, including 100 properties and two firms.

In an operation that involved about 70 police officers, numerous properties were raided in the early hours of the morning in Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto and Sardinia.

Those involved in the fraud used shell companies to house the money.

The shell companies then transferred the funds to accounts in San Marino and Luxembourg and the Italian companies were then liquidated

And what role did Berlusconi play in it?
