Weird News Tidbits

How people interpret what they read is why we have had endless bloodshed over the last few thousand years, Christian or Muslim.

Quite - well put Icey.

Books don't kill people, that was my only point.

Whatever happened to swine flu?

To use a ham pun... it was cured?

It would have either rapidly mutated into something far less virile (which is most often what happens with hybrid influenza strains) and disappointingly boring for media outlets to report on or, it has been isolated and biding its time.
Still exists and still bad. Have had a number of people in our ICU this year, young people with out other medical conditions. Vaccine for it is included in the flu vaccine now.

There you go. Thanks for the info. I take it something has prevented it from being quite as contagious as its common cousin?

More importantly, when the entire population of Lagos have died from Ebola-related bleeding from every orifice how much will it stink?

A high school girl has been arrested on suspicion of killing and dismembering a classmate, Japanese police say.

The 15-year-old was arrested on Sunday in Sasebo city in Japan's southern Nagasaki prefecture.

Police said the girl beat her friend and then strangled her on Saturday. She then severed the victim's head and cut off one of her hands, they said.

The victim has been identified as a 15-year-old girl who attended the same high school as the suspect.

Her body was found in the apartment of the suspect, who was living apart from her parents, according to Japanese media reports.

Police said the suspect used a metal instrument to beat her friend.

They quoted the suspect as saying she acted alone, saying: "I did it all by myself", Kyodo news agency reported.

Ten years ago, a similar crime rocked the same city when an 11-year-old schoolgirl stabbed her 12-year-old friend to death.

In that case, the young girl told local media she acted because the victim had made comments about her appearance in internet chat-rooms.

Flu vaccine has prevented it after its first year. Contracting an actual flu virus is quite rare.

Regarding the ebola thing, when I was in Siracusa, Sicily earlier in the year there were rumours that an illegal immigrant died in hospital from the virus. Doubt it was true, but still slightly concerning considering what’s going on in the mediterranean currently…

There are two types of Islam, Shia & Sunni...they hate each other as much as they hate Israel...so whatever they are destroying is from the one they don't like.

Know that in Indonesia they  call the two strands of Islam as Mohammede and N.O. Though an Indonesian couldn't tell you which one equals Sunni or Shia.

And the Muslim religion in Indonesia will turn a blind eye to ' nefarious activities ' as long as you donate to the Mosque. I suppose this is common to all religions.

Is it too far fetched to think this disease may have been deliberately launched to depopulate/annihilate people?

Have some diseases been WEAPONISED?

Just asking.

Oh I don't think it matters where it is as long as people die.

I think humans are doing a pretty 'effective' job ATM killing with conventional weapons, why bother making it more complex?

Cheaper. Much much cheaper.

FWIW biological weapons do exist, despite being soooo banned. It will happen, one of these years.

Yes it will

It's hard to believe but at one stage in it's history, Islam would have been seen as one of the more progressive major religions.

Isn't that because it was designed/manufactured to be a religion that would compete with Christianity which was basically for white people and the central asians wanted their own religion so they would feel lucky like the chosen ones (christians/jews) did.
