Welcome to Essendon? - Isaac Kako

Wanganeen and Menzie are out the door already. Personally I don’t see Alwyn Jr. as a viable prospect. Too early to make projections for J.Davey

He’s already kicking like a Bomber… 15.23 from 9 games!

“What’s a blinder?”

Stringer 31 next season
Zurhaar 27 next season

That’s it

Our forwardline barely works with Wright Caddy Langford and Stringer.
No room for Zurharr. would be better off with one less tall and one more quick small.

Yeah but im not sure Zurhaar is getting any better.

I mean sure he might be a reasonable recruit and find his way into the best 22. TBH I dont watch enough North football to know any different.

Blitzers are so focused on replacing an aging Stringer with a Stringer type, almost like it’s a specific player that every team needs to be successful.

How about we just replace him with a good footballer that fits within a workable forwardline structure ?

Agreed. We finally have the chance to move towards a smaller and higher-pressure forward line, especially with this Kako rule change, yet some want to bring in a 27 year-old medium size Stringer replacement despite our forward line options being already overwhelmed with guys who don’t help us lock the ball in.

We should be replacing him with a small forward when the time comes, imo

More defensive pressure and more pace is what we need. Not a like for like replacement (eg zurharr)

What’s kako’s foot skills like in general play? I thought a few looked a bit loopy in the above highlights.

What’s an NGA?

Generated a score from around 60% of his disposals across the four U18 carnival games.
4 SI from 12 disp (3 goals)
12 SI from 17 disp (2 goals)
9 SI from 18 disp (1 goal)
7 SI from 11 disp (2 goals)

I haven’t watched a great deal but stats suggest he’s creative enough for disposal to not be a huge issue?

Academy (next gen I think is a nice way of saying a non anglo/non typical afl playing Australian)

Looked like he was everywhere at times, like you’d expect at that level, but anywhere near goals super quick to make a decision and generally a good one. Looks good, not amazing, has confidence.

Oh the teams missing good NGAs between the rule change and jamarra have definitely been screwed.

I think all matching bids should require at least one pick in the same round to match. That seems fair.

Ie a club cant collect a ■■■■ load of late round picks to collect up a premium top 10 talent.

That would be fairer no matter what system it is(nga, father son, northern academies).

Ie so say the premiers have a top 5 NGA talent.

They are parting with pick 18 to get him(plus other picks).

Or the suns have another Jed Walter. He would be require a first rounder to match then a bunch of other picks.

They cant trade down and collect a bunch of points benefiting the one other team trading up at the expense of other sides. They instead use up their first, other picks and go into debt next season

Prince of Perth going to WCE I reckon

Absolutely awesome news!

So bulldogs get JUH and we get Lual. Yeah I guess….

watch us recruit him then make him play 3 years in the VFL before getting a senior gig, by which point he is devoid of any development, confidence or natural flair.
