Welcome to Essendon - there might be more last list spots…

Bailey Smith is the one taking Dunkley’s midfield time, will be very interesting to see how the dogs approach this issue.

Around half the clubs will not even use the mid-season draft, so the numbers will come in like a normal draft - Does it matter if you select a ‘so called’ 4th round pick if they have AFL attributes And in a worse case scenario you can go the season one or two players down and have more picks in a strong 2021 draft.

I’d like to hear how Dons1 would approach this situation.

There are 9 clubs with 14 list spots open, ignoring LTIs which will add more. It may not be 18 clubs with a pick but it will be a lot of them.

They do look a bit like they’re from our VFL match sim reports last year. :joy:

But yeah I went through some of the Kevin Sheehan articles again (his top 40, best small defenders/forwards pre-draft, etc), which is probably why they’re overly positive.

They were written by the bloke that Gil wants to get to do the AFL’s internal review.

But a number of those 14 spots will be filled in the SSP.

With a bio like that, why wasn’t Xavier Robins picked up?

Probably because nobody posted WSPHU.

Yeah not sure at all. Maybe @Aceman knows a bit more about him?

I was actually watching some of the fox replays and they had some of the dogs 2016 finals games on. Dunkleys kicking was atrocious, same as his dads. I haven’t seen much of him so don’t know if that’s improved but adding another terrible kick to a midfield of heppell, shiel etc. wouldn’t be very smart.

Oh, for sure.

There’s a whole bunch of Mickey Mouse drafts and windows to pick guys over the year. Probably makes most sense to spread the love. Just pointing out there’s more likely to be more good players there, all told.

Jackson Callow has just signed at Norwood, keen to see how he goes as I thought he was a certainty to be drafted

Yeah I’m surprised he didn’t get a chance somewhere - hopefully he does well and puts himself in the frame for the mid-season draft.

Could be a nice cheap get

I’d say how on earth are Sydney not taking him then, but they just delisted several backs because they have too many with list sizes reducing. So could be a good option.

That said, surprising if he’s actually good that GWS didn’t take him to replace Williams & Shaw.

Why no Nigel?

Don’t we have enough of his type? Ridley, Francis, Gleeson etc.

Looking at those highlights - Begbie might be right. Looks less small defender than interceptor. That said, we do need small/medium cover down back.
