Welcome to Essendon - there might be more last list spots…

I suspect we’ll take Byrne, just reading some of the commentary.

Small defender, good kick, makes sense to me.

Don’t we have 2 spots?

I’d prefer to take the compensation pick, and go to the draft with 2-3 first round picks again.

Trade out a future first round, and ‘back in’ the Davey Brothers for 2022.

Then we’re done with the draft for a few years.

Three. But you would expect we’d keep at least one for the mid-season draft.

…assuming we’re moving Mozzie to the LTI for the year.

Which considering he only just had his ACL surgery is pretty likely.

Agreed.

I will be extremely disappointed if we give up our first round pick this year to get Dunkley. Super Draft’s should not be messed with. Most great teams have been built on the back of one.

we should give away our future first for Dunkley, works well if Davey plays well and is expected to be a first rounder.

Aren’t the Davey twins in next years draft?

Really? I didn’t notice Nino. :grinning:

Yes - future first 2022
this year we have Moore, Misiti, Wanganeen and Hird, blokes who did training stint at the club.

Can match Davey with later picks, like pies will do with daicos and Port/Dogs did with their kids

I’m quite relaxed about giving #18 for J Dunkley, superdraft or spud-draft.

They might take our 2022 first rounder.

I really think speculation on a Dunkley move, let alone a cost, is all a bit silly.

  1. He may not request a trade to us this year. He could decide to stay, leave in 2022 with FA, or nominate someone else.
  2. We don’t know how we’ll go and what we’ll look like at the end of the year. This impacts our 2021 draft position and our estimated view of our 2022 draft position.
  3. We don’t know how Dunkley will play/be played in 2021, which will affect his end of season trade value.
  4. We don’t know how we’ll view our F/S prospects (from 2021 and 2022) at the end of the year, and hence what picks we might need to retain/can trade.
  5. We don’t know how the 2021 or 2022 draft will be rated by the time we get to October.
  6. We don’t know how our midfield will go, and who in our side might ask to leave come year’s end.

There are soooo many freaking unknowns - why does everyone keep trying to speculate on a price; or even if it will happen?

I don’t have a problem with people speculating on it, but can’t it be kept out of every single thread? It would be like if we’d spent the whole year after Caddyfest saying in every thread what will we get him for this year…

Would you trade Chis Judd for Dunkley?

Because that’s the type of player you would possibly be giving up for him.

forget dunkley and get one of the king brothers

5-6 first round picks in the space of 2 years, would be massive.

You are looking at a group of elite kids coming through together. If we get the development programs right, that puts us in the Premiership frame in 3-4 years time… for 10 to 15 years consistently finishing top 4.

It would be the brightest future this club has had since 1997.

We deserve to give ourselves that sort of future. One eye on ‘the now’ and one eye on the future isn’t going to take us to a premiership… just plan for the future.

So what you’re saying is that you think we will get Caddy this year?
