Jake Kelly says hi !
There is always a place for it but it is frustrating to watch when there are actually good options available that aren’t overly dangerous in more of a north/south direction towards goal, or on the 45, that a more confident player would instinctively take that are passed over. The moment is then gone as the opposition floods back. You especially get a sense of it happening live at the game more so than on the box I reckon.
Definitely something I have noticed with Nik Cox when he has got on the park in the last two seasons. Which in a sense, isn’t all that surprising that he’d have been lacking some belief and dare and fearing making mistakes.
That’s why I’m hoping that if he has a cracking pre-season that his confidence rises and he backs himself in to take those more incisive kicks.
Yes but there’s a “sma” at the end
Easily not the worst kick that we’ve picked up this trade period
20 long kicks to a contest
=
100% kicking efficiency.
He played 53 of a possible 95 games for Port since the start of 2020. Between that and his recent form, I suspect we might not be seeing much of the silly bow and arrow thing in 2024…
Hope he can be a good contributor, but I reckon it’s a bit of a long shot.
Brad seems like the type that would sack someone for doing the bow and arrow.
You’ve clearly forgotten the carry on of Lyndsay f*cking Thomas.
You know I have tried incredibly hard to forget about Lindsay Thomas. Thank you for reminding me.

Welcome Xavier.
hope to see lots of arrows next year.
he has loads of potential, hope that fitness and conditioning staff can muscle him up in the preseason.
Port fans reckon he put on too much muscle and lost the running power that he had in year one and two…

yep - and not just Essendon, where it seems to be a thing that players only look to one particular part of the ground when having to pass, and ignore/don’t see good options being nearby or in other directions. Probably a game plan thing to move the ball via a particular set route, but the players don’t always set up for it or find themselves in other (better) positions.
As an observer it looks obvious to go to these other options, but it doesn’t happen for whatever reasons (good and bad).

Similar to McGrath then…
We’ve purchased at his lowest possible price, if he works out awesome if he doesn’t we move on. I think we’ve done well here.
I’m stoked about this kid.
He was part of the big 3 at Port and he oozes X factor.
Looking forward to unleashing him next year.
Love the Dodoro phonecall, not quite as good as the original with Shiel.
