Welcome to Essendon - Xavier 🏹 uursma

I hope to see Duursma slapping teammates away after goals and shooshing the crowd until the final GF nail is hammered in. Then 50 farking arrows in a row. No team song til then either. Boo me

one game, but his kicking was awful.

was the best deal we were getting for zerk so not fussed, hope he works out well.

The main knock from Port fans is that he is a poor decision maker and can hold up play.

Can’t fault his endeavour and work ethic

yeah seems to wait and then take safe lateral options a fair bit.

What were the club thinking just as bad when Carlton wore the bright blue m&ms jumper

Mate of mine is a Port member who is fairly objective when it comes to his own players. I asked if he’s more of a wing or half back.

Could he play that james hird type role where he uses his marking ability to link up between the midfield and the fowardline and be on the end of a goal or two per game himself?

Sounds like Durham

Average kick and goes sideways. WANT.

Will fit right in.

Very similar to Durham

The holding up play and taking ages to make a decision, and said decision routinely being to chip it sideways sounds more like the mojo-less Nik Cox that we’ve seen the last couple of years. More so than Durham.

Its also largely what a winger would be instructed to do

If team mates had pressed up and had nothing to kick to, or greater opposition numbers ahead will kick it sideways to retain possession and options to present. As well as defence time to reset

Is he always conservative though with ball use/movement is the question though.

Regardless he’s going to be a big upgrade on Snelling, Kelly or Cox playing the same role and potentially will be ahead of Durham as well. Albeit you need 2 wingers and one off the bench/hff outside mid in rotations. So I expect all of X, Martin and Durham (who BDB loves) will play.
