Welcome to the rehab club - Dr Matt Inness

I had a look. Of the current bunch, all of them are from other AFL clubs or internal promotions except for the pies (Jarrod Wade from the Rabbitohs in 2021). There are a bunch who’ve got experience from other sports before joining the AFL, but straight from another code into the top job just the pies. Unless being at Essendon counts as a different sport, then also the saints and cats.

Iam not sure that’s as impressive as it sounds 2016 was one of the luckiest and handed premierships in recent history along with a outstanding list with extreme luck from father son and NGA that hasn’t finished above 5th since

Yeah it’s odd it feels like a very insular industry. That wade guy had a lot of success at the pies and of course Burgess from soccer was the big success in the past, who is still delivering now. You’d think there would be some Aussie guys working in European soccer or the NFL or something that could be coaxed home. Guys that would be right at the cutting edge of modern sports science.

The bloke has the most under the pump job in football. Good luck and hope he can turn this injury shitshoww around

Jesus, let’s wait till it’s even confirmed before we go full Debbie Downer on him.

If that was Essendon winning a flag in 2016 and always fighting for finals since you’d bite someone’s hand off regardless of luck and FS/NGAs.

I’m going to be positive and go for one less injury at a time.

Iam not downing the guy at all if he is the best man for the job then that’s awesome.

All I was saying is the bulldogs team has severely under delivered and it would be nice to fill a position without them coming form north or west coast

He’s only been at West Coast for 2 years, it feels like you are eluding that Vozzo could have give him the gig because he’s come from West Coast. Vozzo wasn’t even there when Innes was appointed at West Coast.

He doesn’t have to draft them, coach them, develop them, or umpire them. He just has to get them fit. Perhaps that, is what he should be judged on?

We are talking fitness levels not drafting, trading and coaching.

Your last point is key. He’s achieved strong improvement at the Eagles. They were as bad as us 3 years ago.

So why give credit for the flag then ?

Where did I give credit to him for the flag. I said he was in charge when they won their flag and got to another and had sustained success.

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

Deja vu. Said the same thing about Murphy & Hawthorn.

Was Murphy in charge at Hawthorn? Thought he was the number 2?

He wasn’t. But this place made it seem like he was.

Yeah true. No one is really talking him up though, it is merely pointing out where he has been and what has happened while he was there.

Who knows if he has even been chosen yet, let alone whether he is good enough? Proof will be in the pudding.

He’s only been at West coast for a couple of years so don’t know if I’d describe him as a West coast person.

We are aiming for higher draft picks.
