He’s signing with us according to Herald Sun.
Then it’s. A fact.
Who, I’m a bit lost now, Innes was done a few weeks ago wasn’t he?
WCE couldn’t field a team when he got there, drastic improvements since. Their board on BF are discussing the same article, they are desperate to keep him.
The West Coast kids generally look bigger / stronger than ours too. Drafting factors, fitness program factors , both ?
I’ve absolutely no idea who would / wouldn’t be a great appointment. But I do know that it’s critical that it is indeed a great appointment.
I find it slightly amusing that clubs can no longer be allowed to make announcements. All the communications specialists have to try and leak it first.
Weird that it was only two day ago it was all about Austin
So what the HS say now is gospel?
Communication specialists all trying to be the first to break it and don’t check with clubs.
Until the club announces it, then it could be Humphrey B Bear with no pants.
Or with pants.
woke
To be fair, the HS article isn’t claiming it’s a done deal. Just that we are targeting him. Which is kind of useless cos that was already previously reported anyhow.
Essendon targeting West Coast fitness boss Matthew Inness for high performance job
Essendon is zeroing in on a new high performance chief amid player unrest over the club’s fitness program following a horror year for injuries.
Essendon is eyeing West Coast fitness boss Mathew Inness to head up the club’s new high performance department.
After two years in Perth, the former Western Bulldogs’ strength and conditioning boss is the frontrunner to help conquer the Bombers’ injury woes at Tullamarine from next season.
It is a major appointment for Essendon which is desperate to get on top of its run of soft tissue problems after another poor season.
The injuries have been a major frustration for key players including Sam Draper, Jordan Ridley and Darcy Parish who have all weighed up moves out of the club.
Inness, who is eager to return to Melbourne, is highly-rated after a decade at the kennel and two seasons at West Coast.
Essendon has already parted ways with former high performance boss Sean Murphy.
No one has signed as yet. More spurious reporting.
He has taken the worst injury list in the comp and got them to mid table on that metric. Fingers crossed he can do the same with us. As per their last injury report the Eagles only had 2 soft tissue injuries (ignoring Allen’s heart related calf) which has to be a key focus given how many repeat soft tissue injures we have had
He will come in and some our injury prone players such as Draper & Ridley will leave. He will get immediate improvements.
Our left arm fast bowling stocks will surely benefit from this appointment.
And hire Essendon people?
I’m sure fixing our conditioning problems will require much more than changing the head job (excuse me!). It will mean a different philosophy (led by the new guy) and lots of changes to practices and methods. Changes to training drills too.
Only positive for Essendon is we’ve eradicated ‘stress related’ type injuries. Bottle whatever we’ve done there and work on fixing soft tissue as the big fix. Then there’s size, strength, endurance and resilience etc.
Obviously there’s more at play than just the talent of the person in the role but what?
Why would Sean Murphy do so well at Hawthorn during their premiership years and then so badly with us?
Inness has a good track record with both WC and WB…but a good track record apparently isn’t enough.
