Exactly the same. The loss of the local rag will leave a massive void.
How is it working out in Broken Hill?
The Barrier Truth died earlier this year. ENG Media came in with a weekly paper.
Yep.
Taking it higher up
RACV ArseHats update:
Wife went into hospital last night due to high blood pressure which they think was caused by the stress of the flooding.
M.I.L has been on the phone to RACV as our claims consultant is still trying to get us to go to either an unfurnished rental (and as such pack our house to move into them) or go back into the house and stay until they need to do the floors and move again.
My wife asked what the unfurnished house situation would be (bills etc). He said we would need to front the bond (ones they sent us were $3000), pay utilities etc as they would only cover rent. We cant afford that and paying bills for 2 houses for an unknown period of time.
Claims consultant said “Then you will just need to go back into the house once mold is removed and repairs will need happen around you. Plenty of people do it”. Wife has been in tears as she worried about the paint fumes and plaster dust and having to buy replacement furniture and move it all the time when they want to do works, e.g. move bed frames from one room to another space and the baby coming home to a shitshow with no carpeted rooms.
Builder says no works will happen for 8 weeks as they shut over holidays and cant give definitive timeline of when things will be done as they need to wait until mold is removed. He wont even tell me if he has lined up trades for when they go back.
However whenever we speak someone from RACV who isn’t our normal consultant they are mortified he said these things… one even said they are going to speak to their manage/higher up. When wife’s mum called to see if that was done, they said apparently there is a meeting on Monday after they heard wife had to go into hospital last night.
Just keep outlining the guys behaviour to higher ups. They’ll to panic stations to avoid hitting the news.
CEO’s emails re usually pretty public. Write them and their critical response teams will set a fire under everyone.
Yeah, you gotta keep plugging away. Speak to the supervisor, take notes. Try to not get frustrated, be nice to them as best you can (they’re only doing their job, and likely can’t approve anything beyond updating your phone number or sell a policy).
Just keep at it.
Then there’s the extra stuff, I dunno, maybe the local member might be able to help.
maybe roco can get one of his old age buddies to take up the story
Who is your local MP?
Would this come within Stephen Jones orbit, as the Minister responsible for Financial Services ? He seems to have some role in insurance, including for households.
If @SillyBilly you live near Melton the local Federal and State MPs are good at this, or rather both offices have competent staff who will take up your cause.
I am sure the same applies elsewhere.
Cyclists on ■■■■■■■ military road near highpoint. Seriously. Find somewhere else to disrupt traffic.
its not like theres a dedicated bike track that goes the same direction along the river.
The Gold Coast.
Went up Wednesday for a conference … rained for three days. Just before we were about to leave for the airport received a notification that flight was delayed 90 minutes. Rang travel agent, got us on an earlier flight … usually takes about 45 minutes from resort to airport in traffic. Allowed an hour which gave us 45 minutes to check in a get on the plane.
Massive floods. Traffic at a standstill. Obvious we weren’t going to make the flight… rang travel agent again… changed us back to original flight …got to the airport… flight delayed AGAIN. Went to bar! Stayed in bar until finally flight boarded 4 hours after original time.
Got home at 1.30am.
Good Coast is ■■■■. Travel agent is an angel.
This is an excellent reason why you have a Travel Agent. I know I could do it myself (ex Travel Agent) but I know the support they can provide that isn’t available to you if you book online yourself.
Aceman could be blitz travel agent
He is certainly our ‘air travel’ advisor.
The hate mail you’ll get from dmaples is gonna be epic
Live in South East Melb so Cardinia region
Depends where you live as Cardinia is a massive region, but Emma Vulin may be your local State MP office phone (03) 9651 8254, email [email protected]. I have found her to be approachable and helpful.
Federal MP is probably Jason Wood. He is a Liberal and I do not know much about him. Ex cop with a good reputation.
