It’s time St Kilda and Gold Coast both just fold. ■■■■ them both.

Hmm, … maybe a merger is in order, … Gold Coast Saints??

It’s such a misnomer pisstake, it just might work …

At the end of this season, we need to offer Jared McVeigh and player/assistant coach offer.

We need some people from The Swans at our club.

Don’t even relocate GC, kill them. Start a brand new in tasmania

AFL is so farkin boring. Take away our irrational tribal obsession and most of us wouldn’t bother as there is only at the most one game each week which is any good.
Why did the AFL fark up footy with their stupid expansion club bullshist, when they should have concentrated the talent (players and support staff) in 12 really good clubs and funded a 2nd tier competition to develop young players all over the country. Of course it was for $$$s but they’ve created 7 boring games each week and they will lose out in the long run.
We could have had a really elite world class competition but instead we have a clusterfark of perpetual loser clubs, an unfair draw and academy system, a head office who are out of touch, borderline corrupt and self serving, and a bunch of puppet Presidents.

Nah, just kill them and re-concentrate the talent a little. Too spread out across the league.

Oh, we’ve been st kilda and we still are st kilda.

I was just looking through their list trying to work out what young talent might be gettable. I struggled to really identify targets. In the past you could see some top end talent that just needed time but right now they are just playing such low quality football its hard to pick the talent from the trash. Even Lynch looks a spud based on recent form - they are in all sorts of trouble.

Reckon every player on their list could be gettable we know contracts don’t mean jack in modern footy. if a club offerd them an out they would take it imo why would you want to waste your talents at Gold Coast.

Agree - they have to be very high on our radar for poaching some talent I’m just not sure ATM who exactly we should be after. They have guys like Brodie who’s still highly rated but doesn’t have form to back it up. I don’t think they will allow guys to walk cheap so you’d prefer to have some better exposure before you start considering trades. Their crop from 2012-2015 should be forming a decent nucleus of their side but there’s not many standouts from that group.

AUS 8 to IRE 6 just after HT.

Ref has been fkn Crucifying us …

FOLAUUUUUUUU!!!

You fkn beeeauty.

What the …?? Screwed again!

Why would they shut down teams that have won finals recently ahead of those that haven’t?

Steve Johnson in the Swans coaching box

Would love to snag a recenlty retired player for our coaching box

The messed up thing is that there’s no REASON for GC to be so shithouse. GWS had pretty much exactly the same starting point, exactly the same unsuccessful rugby convert recruit PR stunt, and an even more hostile location. And while GWS haven’t taken the comp by storm, they’ve played finals and performed reasonably solidly and have recorded modest consistent membership increases and to all intents and purposes seem to be a mostly functional footy club, even though they have lost top draft picks for relatively little in trade week, and even thought the AFL actually made GWSs drug cheat serve his penalty (watered down as it was) as opposed to sweeping it all under the carpet as they did with GC.

I really does just come down to poor management. It’s as if someone teleported the mid-80s Saints a couple of thousand km north and 30 years forward in time.

It might event actually come down to how they spent their free agent allowance back when they were founded. GC went for the best player in the comp, great PR but put all their eggs in one basket and perhaps put a burden of leadership on a bloke who might not have been best suited to it. GWS concentrated on building culture and got a few much lower-profile guys like Ward and Mumford who’d actually be able to lead on field and off.

Kinda makes you wonder, in the modern era of ‘contract, what contract?’ list management, how do you haul a crap list off the bottom? Historically you’d keep the best of your senior blokes around to act as mentors for the high draft picks you had coming in, and hope for a priority pick or two. Not any more. The cream of your senior blokes would have seen the writing on the wall (or gotten fed up with the shitness) and gone off as FA years ago, priority picks have been scaled way the hell back, and your top draftees will just plain refuse to re-sign at the end of their rookie contract and force you to trade them for bugger-all. And you’re a basket case so no FAs are going to want to come sign up with you. And it’s even harder for GC don’t even have that core of sturdy senior blokes in the first place - if GWS hit the wall in a few years they’re still going to have 29-ish yo Ward and the like setting training standards etc, who do GC have?

And they traded out pick 2 last year for a middling kid. Fkg unbelievable.
