l took a redundancy package from the Kennett govt. at the end of 1992, and have lived o/s practically ever since. i was an ESL teacher, then became a TEFL trainer of new teachers for 8 years. l loved the work, still do, although it doesn't pay all that well, l have met people from all around the world and count many of them as friends now. In a good year l make about 25K. Since Oct 2014 l have worked for an online English company in Hangzhou China, as their resident trainer. That means l put together material for their courses for 800+ teaching staff in Baguio city in the Philippines. They have sent me there 4 times in the last 16 months. They call me the Senior Curriculum Consultant, in a department of 1. l have been able to combine the work with some side trips. Now l am in Shanghai negotiating with another company for a new position. l am interested in making a move to Malaysia or Singapore by the end of March to set up a new place with my fiancé. It is literally freezing here right now and l am not a fan of the big chill, or the terrible lack of air quality in Hangzhou. As a career l fully endorse training.

Frequent visitor leaving via Guangzhou and now Hong Kong as we speak.
Hangzhou has had snow. In Beijing last week we had a seriously dry -15
Hangzhou Air quality ppm much better than elsewhere. Beijing was shocking again.
Maybe a training camp for the lads under pollution conditions if wada approved?
Would I recommend it, no, stay the ■■■■ away. ■■■■ pay, ■■■■ work and if you are actually efficient at your job you land in the ■■■■, because you quickly run out of work to ■■■■■■■ do. It is then assumed that you are slacking off, and leaving the rest of the team to pick up your slack. On occasions when you do run out of work but actually ask the supervisor for additional work to make time pass you are given idiotic tasks such as “checking all the draws have enough pens in them”.
This inevitably ends with you somehow being managed for underperformance. Boggles the ■■■■■■■ mind.
In summary I’m having an awesome time at work at the moment.
I particularly also do not feel any resentment to the colleague who takes a week to complete a stationary order that should at max take half an hour to complete, who somehow has everyone believe the sun shines out her ■■■■■■■ ■■■■.

Teacher. Would I reccomend it? Probably not if you want stability. And don't mind dealing with idiots (parents and people that have no idea department of education etc. not necessarily the kids) The holidays are great and on the surface pay is pretty good but as I said dealing with idiots can take the fun out of it. As can the work that you take home as you don't just leave at a set time and have free time.
Anyway I have started in a new job and as yet I have not taught any of the kids this year so I may have a different attitude tomorrow. I am now working at an Islamic school and I am not of the Islamic faith so we will see how it goes, but so far my colleagues have been very welcoming and I am going to spread the gospel of Essendon as much as I can. I have made the display boards have black with red outline. Probably should have done a sash on them but it would get covered over before too long.
EDIT: I have not had direct access to Blitz through the department too often. I did once but it was a while ago and I cannot remember where. I could do so on my phone but I try to avoid typing for much length on it as I would rather use a keyboard.
“The Mad Bomber” is working at an Islamic school. For the love of Allah don’t tell Andrew Bolt.

Mum and Dad worked in the tax office 30 years ago. The stories they tell makes me wonder how anyone gets their tax back. People’s tax returns would fall behind cupboards and they’d just leave it there. Or a clean up would be done and tax returns that were 5 years old would be found wedged behind desks by people who couldn’t be arsed doing them.
