Authors in particular American authors have a propensity for weird and hypocritical sensibilities. See me rothfuss for more examples.
assume he has seen ep 8 and Tarens Gap is a bit brutal re the gore
Imagine making a series where war is a central theme. Better not have gore.
I think the Perrin wife thing was a way to set the stage for his internal conflicts. It is understandable to a viewer that doesn’t have any insight to his internal monologue.
Problem was, it needed time to develop the relationship. It felt rushed. It didn’t really work for me as presented, but it might have in an extended cut.
Perrin is an absolute nightmare character to present in a visual medium.
Could’ve cut perrin for mine.
I read the book scene that Rafe is most looking forward to adapting, Dumais Wells a few days ago. When I was a teenager it seemed cool and exciting. Reading it as an adult and I was really knocked around with the scale of the violence.
These books skim over the brutality that is happening. There’s some absolutely horrific things in these books. I think many readers didn’t read between the lines of what was being implied. Which is fine, but the idea that the wheel of time doesn’t have much violence doesn’t fit with what I’m currently reading.
how about rand balefiring a city?
Or like the literal analogue of the Spanish Inquisition.
But nah too much blood on screen
My daughter asked me lastnight why Perrin is such a sad sack.
Clearly the crap in the 1st episode didn’t set his character up that well.
That’s just stupid…Perrin is a major character and even these morons aren’t stupid enough to write out such a character.
whats be bring?
last book spoilers
dream blast the foresaken/slayer? just make the dream walkers stronger
There’s some key moments that revolve around Perrin.
Rebuilding Manetheren and Dumais Wells
I think people get annoyed with the character due to “the slog” in the later books and it colours the memory of the entire series. I haven’t got to that point in the books on this read through and I like him.
What does he bring…he’s a central character in the story…he’s one of Rand’s trusted friends which becomes more important as the story develops.
That’s a weakness of this season. We lost a heap of the friendship moments. The little character beats that set the foundation of what’s to come.
Considering Mat bounced, I’m not too fussed about that. It would feel hollow if they set it up properly only to replace the actor anyway.
Mat’s in the trailer for the finale… which has completely broken my brain. I thought he’d been written out due to the actor leaving, so I’ve absolutely no idea at all about how this will play out.
b-roll/ flashback bank on it.
Great show
Lots of book fans don’t think so
I’m watching with a non-reader and their complaints are the dourness Sanderson refers to and the lack of friendship/character moments Benny40 refers to.
Sacrifice the world building. Let it be blurry. But make the characters and relationships sharp whether through invention (likely needed) or mining canon. They matter more.
