LOL. I should know he’s got all of them and has pestered me to read them. He said the identity of the dragon reborn isn’t a big thing but watching the series for the uninitiated it feels like it,
book 1 has been done as an audiobook by rosamond pike (way better than the ■■■■ american couple thats been out for ages.
That’s interesting…The Dragon Reborn is THE main character in the story
Yeah but it doesn’t take 14 books to reveal the identity does it?
Future seasons will focus on what does it mean to be the dragon? What does the dragon do? Who has the dragon’s back and who is trying to control or kill the dragon? It builds a complex world and political tale.
The story arc of season 1 is a launching pad. It was the Tolkien fan service. Think the first lord of the rings movie, but with country bumpkins. The story that follows is widely regarded as the step change in the fantasy genre away from Tolkien pretenders and into more varied modern storytelling.
No…it’s revealed by the end of the first book…so it should be revealed next week in episode 8.
In fact, according to IMDB, it was revealed in episode 7???
From IMDB
Moiraine and her charges are diverted from their path by an unexpected encounter. This diversion, though, reveals many things - Moiraine’s true goal, Lan’s past, the fractures that have grown in the group, and the identity of the Dragon Reborn.
Gotta say, I am falling less and less in favour of the show. I understand some things needed to change from the books for it to work on screen, but the screen writers for me have changed so much of the soul of the series that I really am not enjoying it. Loial is ridiculous. A character that is supposed to be nearly 10ft tall, looks like an ex heavyweight boxer with a smashed nose and an afro. He ain’t meant to be a refugee from the 70’s FFS. Surely it isn’t that hard to make him look as tall as he is supposed to be. The Ways and Machin shin were terribly executed for mine. Fal Dara is a bare pass. I will continue to watch in the sheer hope that they sort their ■■■■ out and get the story telling back under control, but I really am not hopeful.
then dont watch it?
Spot on…I really don’t think that they’ve needed to change so much…and the cosmetic/CGI changes to get Loial right shouldn’t have been too difficult.
That is the easy response though isn’t it. Aren’t we, the fans of the book and the people who purchased them, supported the author and made this a project worth investing in by a tv studio, entitled to criticise. It would be no different to Essendon running out next year in purple and green. It’s still Essendon and we would still watch, but it isn’t the Essendon we have followed all our lives and wouldn’t feel right. Look at the outrage with having to wear a red and black jumper.
Do you give the aflw(when it’s here) vfl vflw the eSports team(when we had it) the same level of support as the afl?
Put bluntly, no. I will still support them, but them winning or losing will not impact my day like the senior men’s team does when it wins or loses.
Have you listened to the audiobooks?
Loial was purely due to budget. They couldn’t afford a 12 ft CGI character in the main cast.
There’s choices I’m not 100% on board with regarding hair and stuff, but the voice and demeanour were close to the mark.
Really tough design to pull off.
i personally dont care for loial in, book or show so his show appearance is pretty meh for me.
im just really concerned for how the new mat is going to go, original mat was very good for mine
Fark that must have been a rough moment for the showrunner.
“What do you mean he quit…?”
I’m not s fan of mat
this actor would’ve gone far with post book 3-4 mat.
Episode 7 was was great at least.
Hopefully it picks up from here…
The actor has left the show so season 2 will see a different actor. I didn’t like him much either.
