Steinberg, Dell and Jetta must be scratching there head wondering how 3 players at the club for less than 4 months can be ahead of them in the pack.
Good luck boys. Smash'm.
They could simply be better players already or show more potential. It isn't exactly earth shattering stuff.
For me, this year is starting to feel like an ‘experimental gap’ year. Yeah they will try and win every game but lets get as many games into the kids this year as possible so as to have a real crack next year.

TBell, Winders, Kommer, Melky & Dempsy would all get a game in front of some of the kids playing against North. Sadly none of them are available. Out of who is available, who is more deserving of a game than the kids picked?
The ones that put their hand up in the preseason got the nod.

Good luck to them
Also don't forget that while we have some very experienced players on the list, we are still a relatively young list without a lot of depth.

I think that is obvious mate.
But these guys have been in the system for a while and have already been passed. They must be kind of shattered.
Just watched Bombers video calling out the team. This year they have gone more interactive, with pictures of each players. Even though I like the team, when you look at the rookies on the interchange, they look like kids. Makes me laugh

They really only have themselves to blame IMO. Except dell who I think can make it as an AFL player
Does Zach really have "pace to burn"? I'm sure he's quickish like say Howlett or Melksham as opposed to Jobe or Hocking but I didn't think he was what you call "pacy".
Yeah I said that re his kicking. Elite in the air I meant. So what if we can recall a misjudgement here or there. His ability is a weapon to our advantage 9 times out of ten. Pears would win 3 of the contests hardy would aerially. Given our injuries he is a lock.
Yeah, as a backman Hardy times his leap and spoils well and is much better overhead than someone like Pears (and many others in the league). As a forward even in his very limited time up forward during his career I've seen him leap way too early a number of times (in fact I've already seen him do it a couple of times this preseason) and often times the ball goes entirely over his head when he does it. Even if it is an infrequent occurance it is still unacceptable as it often allows opponents to get the ball out the back unopposed and then rebound quickly. It's not a trait I've noticed in other aerialists such as Howe so if Hardingham is elite in the air I guess they are A grade super elite.

At a guess
Jetta knows he is pretty much knows he is only there cos he was contracted for another year. Barring a drastic change in circumstances you can't imagine he will be at the club next year.
Steinberg there's only one theory that really supports why he is even still at the club. He looked substandard for local leagues in our pre season games as a forward, so I think it would take 3/4 of the list to be injuried for him to even remotely get a look in at a game.
Dell is still 50 50, can go either way, can look like he has the ability to make it in patches, in other patches looks very ordinary.
Gleeson is a backman so he passes them for obvious reasons, and if Dempsey was fit he most likely wouldn't be playing.
Ambrose is prolly going to be a KPF more than anything, so again doesn't really fit into the catergory of the others, bar Steinberg.
Merret is the only one who you could make a case for that shouldn't be played ahead of the 3 you mentioned. However he did look to have the goods, and you'd only be playing him on his potential and to get gametime into him and see what he can do.
He unlike the others is more of a blank canvas, you don't know what you'll get with him, you could get a superstar from game 1, you could a 0 touch first game. Unlike the others where you knwo what you will get, and it's not that much.

Nippier than Howlett IMHO.
I'd have him in that bracket - Jerrett/Stants/Melks/Jetta pace, not Colyer/Winders/Dempsey uber-quick.

You would think they would be less shattered than someone newer. If you've been in the system for a couple of years and still don't have a realistic view of your abilities, and where you/they stand, I'd say you are in for a pretty hard life.
