Where's the team and game day - preseason 2024 v aints?

I missed most of the game yesterday.
Just read the match report on the club web site. It sounds like we went ok. There was a bit at the start of the report about losing by 66. I assume that’s a typo because it’s not consistent with the rest

We have noone on our list who could destroy teams in the same fashion. Stringer has the potential but how often does he actually deliver?

So once they learn the gameplan they’ll play worse?

To not turn up to family day and first practice match game is pathetic at best.

I don’t give a ■■■■ reasons why

Yep. Stringer is not the guy. We need to move on from him. He has 2 years left in him.

It’s his contract year, he’ll play out of his skin just as he did in 2021.

Old and slow, his body ain’t up to it anymore

Game will go past him this year

He’s in the Freo squad for tonight’s game- interesting to see how he goes.

4 goals back page of the West

Dominant display and Scott still won’t pick him for the senior side.

I thought Tsatas was actually really good around the ball, his hand were awesome. Just liked what I was hearing from Phillipou. Think the comparison will be there for a while and I think it’s fair.

Brad Scott was at the game yesterday, you can see him walking off with the other coaches after the 1/4 time huddle.

That’s where I see him.
But he’s gonna have to work like hell on his burst leading and stamina.
He needs to be able to run his opponent ragged, because once he can do that, then we’ve got a player.
Then we can actually use guys like Redman, Martin, Hind coming out of the backline.

I don’t see him as a third tall back. I just don’t feel like he has the defensive…I guess…smarts? Knowledge?

Maybe in a year or two he could become a KPF but he seems miles away from that right now.

What role did we recruit Cox to play is the question…coaches now don’t know what to do with him…wasted pick

It’s also an attitude thing.

In the first qtr Duursma (known for his elite running) was just strolling back. No effort no intensity.

Just Essendon attitude.

I am a fan of stringer. The club is doing no one any favours playing him in his current condition…

Mcgrath flogged cameron last year, one thing he is good at is stopping clever small forwards

Well, good.
I’m not getting into the whole spending a #1 pick on Baguley/Slattery thing, but we do need someone who can do that.

Saints were seemingly playing a near full strength side with everyone fit and firing

We definitely weren’t and had players clearly underdone like Stringer and others only playing limited minutes

Certainly feel like intensity wise we were well off it, RTB got the non negotiable for his teams on that front. Gia presser post game seemed like our attitude towards the game wasn’t anything anything other that get the hit out/ time into players as required.

The fact we were breaking down in forward line with a Weid/Jones combo not surprising

Ability to stop Saints intercepting and rebounding quickly was clearly a problem. Stick Wright & Draper in fwd line and they won’t be intercepting, we will be able to take marks in fwd line and at the least get it to ground in a way that helps the smalls to either keep it trapped forward or get opportunities on goal

On Stringer a mate of mine that went said he was meant to be running laps with others at half time and had stopped to chat with an official only to join in with 50m to go on the run. To which was laughed at by the others. Wasn’t involved in the intra club last weekend either

I’m not sure he’s really going to be at a level he should be by rd1, if he doesn’t seriously ramp things up he should be kept out until at top fitness. Give Caddy his debut instead.
