Been thinking about this a bit lately for some reason, but I was thinking which country has the best cuisine in the sense of it being of the country. So i’m not looking for say Melbourne which has good food from all over the world, but more so Chinese food, French food, that sort of thing.
I’m sort of leaning towards the Italians, but perhaps the Chinese might be the better choice given they gave the Italians a fair few ideas.
Who would you give the award to?

Asian desserts kind of rule them out for me, including Indian.

There are some good Chinese desserts though. I’m a fan of their Almond Jelly.

Then I will survive on tiramisu and vienetta.
The Italian mains are just too good to go without.

Judging by the proliferation of restaurants in Melbourne, the podium is Italian, Thai and Indian.
Obviously there are so many regional variations within even country level decisions that it’s going to be tough to choose a victor!
