Who Wants To Be A CEO?

Why don’t you just explain how Thorburn was discriminated against? Is that inappropriate to ask?

I see not. Not surprising.

So what??? Lots of people at the Bombers have views that you probalby do not agree with.

He was given the job, then when faced with choice of Bombers over his Church, he chose the church, big deal.

Well that proves my point that you talk a lot of absolute ■■■■ while knowing sfa and when pulled up on it fail to explain anything, while ■■■■■■■■ on the heads of anyone who opines otherwise. Pull your head out of your ass.

Cannot even follow his own requests of others. Shows the character of the person.

He chose his church and was rightfully dismissed from the club

Could have been avoided if they hadn’t hired him in the first place.

Anyway, Vozzo seems like a good choice.

Absolutely. No surprise with Hisgrove the imbecile though.
Would love to know if he fully diverged his interests at anytime either

Sure there is

  1. The unjust treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of religion, ethnicity, age, sex, sexual preference or disability.

  2. The recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another, like “discrimination between right and wrong”

@Aceman or @sj_2150 were not talking about the second type

It was more than the reaction of fans and revenue implications.
There were players on the list who were public on same sex relationships, whom he had interviewed on a confidential basis in his role as an external reviewer.
Imagine then having him imposed on them as CEO.

Dave Barham seems another one who just gets on with buisness

It’s this.

Thorburn could have given some statement or another and the club could have weathered the storm for a week or so.

The issue was that the staff and players had given, under the condition of anonymity, feedback as a part of the internal review lead by Thorburn.

He knew who had given what feedback, and was then made CEO. This was a clear breach of that anonymity and therefore a clear violation of trust. This is further amplified when one considers the speculation around X and his relationship with female staff members.

I am convinced that internal feedback and outrage would have been the key driver behind his early exit from the club.

It was a bafflingly stupid decision to hire him in the first place, regardless of the religious or NAB stuff

It’s sheer idiocy on 3 fronts

The American Collingwood supporting lady that sits in our board apparently had a big say in Thorburn.

More than comfortable with her being a lady.

Not so much the other two aspects.

It’s the absolute disrespect that gets this (barely a) supporter.

Same as the eXtension. Like no one would notice.

Like they thought no one would notice when they turned Skeeta into the result of drunken intimacy between Dyson Heppell and a Teletubby.

She’ll be gone within 2 years. Quietly not seek re-election and Vozzo will make sure. That’s my view and we’ll be a lot better off as we turn the corner finally.

I like how our CEO goes about things.
No silly noise, just professional. And I was interested hearing how Grant mentioned in the podcast how he noticed Vozzo getting on so well with players just walking the floor so to speak. Think we’ve finally got a leader doing what Barham committed to.

Returning to being a good strong and respected footy club. And a winning one …

Thornburn was the best damn CEO we ever had. We were undefeated during his reign of power!

Thorburn also has a zero-win record, which is probably the worst of all of our CEOs of all time.

Got paid infinite dollars per win!

we also never drew under his reign, why do you accept mediocrity.

i don’t think we sold any memberships while he was ceo
