Why do we wear clothing?

And why the hell has God made clothes for Adam and Eve out of skin?

Not wool.  Not hemp.

Friggin' skin!

For modesty, warmth, and protection.

Next question. :)

Doesn't answer where modesty comes from, but protection (from other than the elements) is a good one.

You all have the answers, you just don't want to go there.

Why would you even say that?

You are completely aware that I know your origin story as well as anyone.

But even that doesn't explain where it came from, apart from magic.

Then you don't know the origin story.

Have a read of Genesis 3.

A little revision is always good.

It still doesn't explain it, it makes even less sense now.

Gen 3 suggests that nudity is evil.  God-ordained evil.

But he allowed them to be born evil, but just be unaware of that fact.

Wut?

So they ate the fruit and gained the knowledge that nudity was shameful.

Not for any reason, it just is.

Magic.

No, sorry, you didn‘t understand it correctly.

1. Adam and Eve were born perfect, sinless.

2. They sinned when they decided to eat of the fruit, and their eyes were opened to ‘knowledge‘. They became ashamed of their nakedness, because that is what sin does, so they made clothing out of fig leaves.

3. The fig leaves inappropriately covered their shame, so God made a tunic of skin for them (ie. He sacrificed an unblemished animal for them – the first blood sacrifice ever – to cover their shame ie. as a cover for their sins).

4. The Jews would sacrifice an unblemished animal each year (the blood shed would cover their sins for a year).

5. The blood sacrifice of an animal was inappropriate to cover our sinfulness, so God sent Jesus to die and suffer for our sins. The only unblemished (sinless) person who ever lived = the only adequate blood sacrifice for our sins.

6. Jesus resurrected, proving he was divine, sinless and able to forgive sins. And proving he could defeat the enemy.

Have a think about what this means for you.

I'm sorry, it's difficult to think about what this means to me when the flaws are so obvious.

Point one: The omniscient came up with an idea (that involved killing an innocent creature) that didn't work.

Riiiiight.

There's three or four other problems I have with this, but that's probably number one.

2 Peter 3 is rather prophetic in relation to your response and the general attitude of Bomberblitz/society. Have a good read.

I think I’ll pass on reading the bible thanks.

I do tend to read fiction though, so not a stretch for me.

I really feel sorry for people who think the Old Testament has much fact in it. So stupid!

I will.

But I'll again ask this.

If Adam and Eve were created "perfect, sinless", how does their eating of fruit change their appearance to imperfect, sinful?

It's how the omniscient created them.

Oh, Peter 2?

If I could be bothered finding the biblical passage for why don't you go ■■■■ yourself, I would.

I'll leave you with casting the beam from your own eye.

Knowledge = sin.

Geez God, why’d you leave that knowledge tree lying around then?

Oh, Peter 2?

If I could be bothered finding the biblical passage for why don't you go fark yourself, I would.

I'll leave you with casting the beam from your own eye.

Excuse me?

2nd Peter chapter 3. It's a little offensive so I can see why you wouldn't want to read it.

Lol.  My mistake.

I looked up Peter 2.

2nd Peter 3 is fine.

I'm absolutely a scoffer.

It's easy to scoff when so many Armaggedon cults are so wrong so often though.

And that extends to our friend Vinnie.

He told me I'd be fighting for my existance Mad Max 2 style by now.

Nope.

And by the same token, take a look outside.

I will.

The eating of the fruit doesn't change their appearance.

The eating of the fruit gave them the knowledge and realisation that they were naked. With that knowledge, came the realisation that they were no longer innocent, and so they had to cover themselves.

There's a leap there that doesn't make any sense.

I'll help.

They were created perfect.  They ate the fruit of knowledge that allowed them to see that they were [s]created perfect[/s] hideous and shameful.

It really is.

Knowledge = sin.
Geez God, why'd you leave that knowledge tree lying around then?

If the tree wasn't there, we'd actually be robots, unable to make any choices.

If the tree wasn't there, we'd actually be robots, unable to make any choices.

So sin is necessary for human growth?

No.

Rather than reading my answers, which is boring, do some research and find out for yourself. Google is your friend. As is the Bible.

Unless, of course, you're just messing with me and don't really want to find answers.

Well, yes.

It's a dilemma.

Either they were objectively sinless and perfect regardless of 'knowledge' or they weren't.

Both options have problems for you.

Nah not messing at all. And I've read the Bible more times than I care to admit. A strict Catholic upbringing will do that.
I've read your answers and they (much like the bible) don't make sense.
So no, I'm not being a ■■■■, I just don't follow the concept that without the choice of sin / knowledge, we'd all be robots.
