Top deck old Olympic was where mum would drag my brother and I. The lines to take a dump stretched the length of the stand.
But yeah we need to ■■■■ off from docklands and go home to the G

Was at WH yesterday watching some EDFL.
We really should be training at this ground once a week at the very least.
Get that genuine sense of connection to the past. With the prominent view of the city to the south, it gives a much better connection to the heart of Melbourne.
Tullamarine is a souless wasteland. Imagine playing for the EFC and having to rock up to work every day in an industrial estate.
the captains run should be at windy hill each week
Wait, our captain RUNS
yep.
But at least they have Eiffel Tower cakes nearby if they need to celebrate a birthday or other jovial event. Im sure thats a huge plus.
Training on the ground is one thing.
All the other indoors stuff (gym, cool down, etc) is far better managed at Tullamarine.
The reason why the development of Windy Hill fell over was because they needed more space and the area under the stands wasn’t functional for everything they had (HoF, public gym / pool, Bombershop, office space, meeting rooms, etc.
Windy Hill was a great facility for its time. The game has changed and needs more space.
Yep, even do it at a time when the surrounding schools have just finished so kids can get there and build a connection to the club, as the on-field performances are giving younger fans nothing to remember.
I still cant believe the reason we are at Tulla is because a bunch of old fellas with fake teeth didnt want to give up their beloved bowls club. XAV wouldnt have stood for that. Souless lizard would have found a way.
Windy Hill was never a good facility, for players or spectators.
are you saying X would have given it to them?
EFC were impossible to deal with at the time. None of the other people who shared the ground including cricket, bowls etc were unreasonable. Bomber Board were full of crap and thought they were privileged. Nearly all those involved cricket, bowls, Council were rabid Bomber supporters as well. Even State MPs were offering money but agreements need to be fair and two sided. Nothing much seems to have changed with the way Board operates.
That said, and acknowledging that Tulla is a soulless graveyard, it is the future and if we were winning games and flags, it would liven up.
At present it is a good place to park if you are waiting to pick someone up from the airport.

First hand
There are other First hands that deliver an entirely different picture
The talk about the facility is a load of ■■■■. Other major sporting clubs around the world have similar training facilities that are simply that. Liverpool moved away from their Melwood training base of 50+ years to a new, state-of-the-art complex in the last 12 months. Do you think they are calling it soulless? Ideally it would’ve been great if they were able to redevelop and expand Windy Hill but for whatever reason that wasn’t possible. I don’t hear too many Hawthorn people complain that they left Glenferrie Oval…
the windy hill bowls club looks like a hovel.
sunburys otoh looks like it pulls in a mean dollar from the pokies
Well it depends on the era Big A. I am talking of the period after 1973 when the Hird Stand and Social Club were built. The next ten years leading to dual premierships were when EFC, Supporters and Board were there most belligerent, and when Cain got elected there was one particular MP who had earmarked funds for a big redevelopment. The Board were not his friend.
By the time the decision was made to move to Tulla, the needs of the Club had outgrown any possible Windy Hill redevelopment, and while the proposed $50 million project may give Windy Hill new life, it can never be the Bombers Home again.
And it also depends which side of the fence you were on.
Aren’t they knocking the bowls club down now??
