Ridley has no one to blame but himself.
So the club is not responsible for player development?
To a point, but the player is even more responsible for attitude as well as development. Many players get dropped, happens every week. But they then try and improve, Parish a recent example, you could even argue Langford a bit, he worked his butt off after getting dropped. Ridley has fallen off a cliff, a long way off it.
What I said was, I thought he had lost the players- but I was wrong. They were playing for him and I happily admitted as such
Imbecile
Poor ■■■■■■■, every time I’ve seen him play he really busts a gut out there, obviously his papers have been stamped.
Lose - taking time to gel
Lose - showing signs
Lose - injuries
Win - see, told you he is a great coach
Lose - taking time to gel
Yes but they need development. Some need more input than others. Working your butt off is all very well and good but you need direction, get the wrong direction, or no direction and players don’t develop.
We all know of dud players that went to others clubs and came along beautifully. Wasn’t Houli one of those? I know Hird tried to keep him but he was already out the door.
Nah he left because he hated how he was treated not because he was no good or his development has stalled. He just hated the environment and requested a trade. Hird tried to win him back but it was too late.
@theDJR could be good in this discussion about development under Dan Jordan.
What I would like is just the truth. Come out and say it … so and so is playing injured … or send them for surgery, play the youngsters, expect to be flogged. Miss the finals … it’s not as if we are going to win any. I’d rather a ‘not ready’ youngster playing 100% than an injured star at 40% …
Can you elaborate?
It has been common knowledge that Hep and Raz and Hooksy have issues. Apart from medical results I’m not sure what else you need.
Joey is the only elite talent on our list.

Merrett very good
Saad very good
McKenna very good
Shiel could be if he relaxes and fixes up kicking skills
Devon Smith- lets see how he goes next year
Hooker and Hurley - best days behind them sadly
Redman- looks the goods
There are several who are not up to AFL Standard on our list also who would not get a game at most other clubs
He played a few ok games and was dropped. He hadn’t cemented a spot and needed to go back and impress and knock the door down. He’s done the opposite and been poor. He hasn’t deserved to get back and that’s on him. I also think that he is being courted by at least one other club.
I’m disappointed because I thought he looked very promising. I had him ahead of both Francis and Redman but now he’s a fair way back and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go at seasons end.
His drop off suggest something more than just struggling or being a sook for not playing seniors. It really alarming how bad he is playing in the twos.
Personally, I am looking forward to more posts listing all the injuries we have. We have not seen enough of these over the last couple of weeks.
This is a bit of a worry. Woosh gives next to no indication that he knows what he is doing. As a coach he is the complete opposite of what made him stand out as a player. He was ruthless and relentless. l get no sense from his actions or words that he can inspire the same things in the players. He is too Wooshy washy for my liking.
I wonder what injury list we had when the Saints made us look 2nd rate
too many years. its the people making the decision on the coach that need to go
Ive come to the conclusion that there is no contradiction between Worsfold as a player and coach. He was a self driven player, his successful teams have been bursting with talent and drive. He didnt need to intervene much to extract success out of others not did he require much intervention to perform well as a player.
He’s carried this view and experience across to Essendon and it’s the complete opposite of what’s required. You see it in his actions/inactions. You see it in his demeanor and you hear it in his language.
He’s not the guy to take us forward. The proof is well and try in the pudding.
Haha, nice one CJ
