About 10 if you take this route.
But he can’t take the credit if the players are performing well, that only goes to the players themselves, right?
Seems it is being sheeted home to Corrigan, Harding and Crow
Well despite being crippled by injuries to most of our best players, and having a virus knock other players down, he has us sitting in the eight. That has to be worth something.
Unless they are traded to a current top 4 team they DEFINITELY WILL be in that group. They’re not getting any better, stronger or less injury prone.
Regular posters on this forum would be familiar with the widespread view that Worsfold is not a great “game day coach” and not great at reacting with positional changes during games unless they are part of the game plan or forced by injury. He seems to be Mr Ice Cool at all times and never knocked a pretzel off a table.
Worsfold has tried to introduce strategies, ( Like the press; 2017 and Ruttens “team defence” ;2019 ) and is thinking at least a year ahead, but when he decided to coach from the bench this year, imo, he abandoned the “big picture” on game day and opted to strengthen his relationship with players as they came to the bench.
In the Bulldogs game, 20 goals were scored without a reply. What good did talking to players on the bench do ? IMO none. Did those players improve during the game? IMO No, ( except Zerret ) not until the Dogs switched off with 10 minutes to go.
It looks like Worsfold has given up trying to improve his deficiencies ( game day tactics) and decided to concentrate on his strengths: that is personal relationships with players and coaches and long term strategy .
So I expect more of the same from John in 2020. It up to the players to improve, and maybe the changes in line coaches will freshen up the messages they hear every day in 2020.
Why can’t he take credit if the players perform well?
Has the Champion Data relating to pressure acts been released for last week’s game? Sure it was worse than the Power game.
Responsibility can be held in a number of ways. The article pointed out that patience at the Tigers and Cats resulted in flags.
Worsfold took over the Eagles after they had finished 14th. He then took them to 8th, 7th, 7th 2nd and 1st.
He may or may not be the right guy for us but when he says he knows what he is doing he has strong evidence to back it up.
Anybody got any expanded data on the clangers? It was said earlier I the week we are 4th for clangers in the league.
They way we turn it over I’d suggest we are also worst for opp scoring from them too.
Dogs scored 100 of their total from turnovers IIRC
Thought that was from the back half? Which kind of is the same I guess, but I know they got an absolute shitload from the back.
You dont really need that stat.
Footscray had 445 disposals compared with our 320 . They had 162 contested possessions compared to our 126. But the tackle numbers were about the same 65/66 even when they had the ball 40% more than we did.
We could not/did not get near them by a massive difference, leading to a massive difference in Inside 50s and goals. We just followed them 2 metres behind them.
The only significant stat we won was clearances. It was the post clearance possession differential that killed us.
Think this was at 3Q time
If he’s there next season and I think he will be and we become good… It will be because of Caracella. JW would have done nothing.
Do you reckon turnovers hurt us?
Glancing blow
3 goals from stoppages?!?!

I agree with Your_Team. Couple things in favour of Woosha. He may not be the Messiah, but he came to EFC when it was on its knees following the drug saga. We must all admit he has done a great job being part of a team that has pulled the Club back from the brink of disaster. Although most of the players involved in the saga have now left the Club, those players remaining and the stench of the saga has taken its toll. It is no use saying that it is 15 years since we have won a final when at least three of those years the Club was still in the saga wilderness.
Clubs don’t like to use the excuse of injuries for failure. The following % figures are purely my estimation, but they do indicate how much game time has been lost in 2019. Daniher, Draper (was going to be picked the following week before his season ending injury), Stewart all 100%, Smith, last year’s fairest and best, 80%, played 20% sore, Ambrose out 30%, Gleeson out 50%, TBell, our number 1 ruckman, out 35%, Heppell 25%, Hurley, 30%. Those nine players would be automatic picks as they are the spine of the team. To that list add, Stringer, Fantasia, Hooker, Parish, Francis, Saad, McKernan, McKenna and Guelfi (season) all have missed games, some longer than others.
I’m sure Woosha, or any AFL coach would consider Essendon’s first pick nine, with four of that nine having played virtually NO football in 2019, would seriously affect the team’s ability to play match winning football. Several players forced to play at AFL for a large part of the season aren’t ready to play at that level, and as displayed over the last two weeks, their inability to sustain the high level of football that AFL requires to win games.
Don’t knock Woosha or the players. They ARE COMMITTED, they are just running out of energy as the gaps are too hard to fill.
