No delay. Or at least minimal. All umps are mic’d up. Fourth ump pushes a button and on onfeild umps hear the alert. A whistle get immediately blown. He then relays the instruction. On field umps carry it out.
He’s a lawyer.
There’s a reason why lawyer and liar sound so similar.
Razor goes to my gym actually im going to make a point of asking him about the Cats game broadly and see what he says if I see him again
The AFL would just find another ten Merrett “elbows” to cancel that out.
Dwayne Russell was pondering using AI to umpire games. FFS.
The world is farked. We are getting incrementally more stupid by the day.
Dwayne’s not. Take 10% off zero, and it’s still zero.
Just shows how brain dead the AFL executive is.
Emperor’s new clothes.
Would probably end up with a better result, cant really get any worse than it currently is.
It would also take care of the clear bias problem that we constantly witness in games, that apparently isnt there.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss…
No ? You said:
Do a knee Dillon or two you turd
I am really really getting sick of the cleche. Go to line the AFL comes out with in regards to poor umpiring. Its always the same " It’s an extremely difficult sport to umpire." NO ■■■■.
Nothing to see here.
How about instead of continuously making excuses and wheeling out the same old worn out cleche, they actually look at what they can do to fix the god damb problem.
I mean how much are these muppets getting paid to make excuses?
We have FOUR field umpires, FOUR boundary umpires, TWO goal umpires, and a VIDEO umpire sitting upstairs swilling coffee until the TEN umpires out on the paddock ask for his advice. And they still can’t get it right.
Once upon a time - back in the early 60s, dim through the mist of years - there were TWO goal umpires, TWO boundary umpires, ONE field umpire, and NO video ump. This was on all the smaller grounds and on the MCG as well. They were all fit men, capable of doing their jobs, so much so that in the overwhelming majority of cases the HUMPS got it right. Maybe we should go back to that situation ! It couldn’t be worse than the present arsefarce.
- Sack Michael Christian from MRO. He is clearly bias. Someone please start a petition.
- Inside 3 minutes left, any mark or free kick inside 50, clock should stop.
- Cut all ties to gambling companies. Both previous AFL CEO’s now work for gambling companies. Games are being saturated with gambling adds. The umpiring in the 3rd Q coupled with the above - even if there is no corruption it is easy for the public to join these dots. It smells bad.
- If a player marks, points to the ground and indicates he is taking a shot, he must take a shot, not then play on. (The Nick Daicos rule, he does it every week.)
- Go back to 1980’s rules and interpretations for Holding the Ball and push in the back. Everyone understood them and they were easy to adjudicate.
- Does anyone understand the Ruck rules anymore? The players certainly don’t, as they never know whose kick it is when the whistle blows.
Does anyone have the qtr by qtr breakdown of frees paid? Earlier I saw somebody post that the count was 6-3 our way at HT but we ended up with 18 so thats 12 after HT. I have to assume most of those came in the last qtr so it would be interesting to see if that was the case. I would assume the trend would be less frees in last qtrs.
All good but for the fact that he took on the tackler and went a couple of steps, before being dragged down to the ground, losing possession in the process.
Sure. But they’re gonna sit there, watch an entire game, multiple angles, no break, and somehow be able to contact an umpire to tell them there was a free kick?
What are the other 10 umpires doing?
