2008 vs Port, Nicholls
At least we have got rid of the other member of the famous trio in Margetts. Just need Nicholls and Mollison need to retire AND not be replaced by liked minded Essendon haters.
Good luck! Imagine all the kids who will soon be entering umpiring who hate Essendon from the Saga. It will only get worse, thatâs for sure.
Left the Nicholls Port game at 3QT; only time Iâve ever done that. Almost left at half time.
Sometimes when the outcome feels pre-determined you just wonder what the hell the point is in subjecting yourself to any further aggrievement.
Is there anywhere to watch some of these decisions in the Port game. Canât find anything on You Tube.
The AwFuL probably had it taken down.
We sort of joke about corruption but the fact is its always the same way. Incompetence would see us occasionally getting the rub of the green in similar fashion but at best we can only hope for a neutral impact from the umps.
We shouldnât have to hope - we, and every other team, should expect a neutral impact every time.
We are Reek.
I know it rarely happens but if the boot was on the other foot and it was the cats being reamed by the umpires and we went 4 goals up as a direct result.
I dont think Geelong would have thrown their toys out of the cot in the last.
As per Brads remarks that what you can take from the game.
We are gonna get screwed by umpiring again, its the nature of the game. Its â â â â â â
Better sides just keep going until things turn or they can really complain about the umpires.(ie if the fourth had of been a repeat of the third).
Whlst yes i think we can complain about the umpiring cost us the game. Shouldnât of been to the tune of 45 points
Bombers looked a 4-6 goal better side at half time, just executed poorly.
Give us another 4 goals, plus deny them free kicks in their F50. Theyâd have been 8+ goals down at 3/4 time in the wet and no way to come back.
Cats looked like â â â â until everything went bizarro world in the second half.
Every supporter of every team always whinges about how they were robbed by the umpires but in reality rarely is it the umpires who determine the result.
Last night was one of those cases where theres no doubt the umpires changed the whole flow of the game. Changed the whole vibe in 10 minutes.
Geelong players even started looking confused at
times.
I donât know but with the simultaneous bombardment of sports betting adverts before, after, during every match and inserted into every second YouTube ad now might be something more than a coincidence.
Oh the third was tough.
Slowing the game then was what we needed to do when they went a couple up. That being said i thought we were still playing well we just got screwed.
The cats almost entire scoreboard came from free kicks that werent there and we were denied ourselves.
But thats football sometimes and it sucks.
Internally the afl umpiring will admit it. Publicly they were abysmal and everyone knew.
Id hazard at a guess even geelong fans would agree.
The cats earnt the win, winning the fourth quarter. We should have reset but didnât.
Maybe we opened ourselves up to being scored against to try and bridge the gap. Scott suggested that but i cant tell from watching on TV.
To be fair theyâd erased the difference and looked the better side when this all started. The game could have gone either way; ascendancy had fluctuated to that point.
Canât wait for AI umpiring.
I must say I hadnât noticed that this is an âorâ list. Not an âandâ list. Means the if nearest attackers are outside 9m itâs a definite free. But if they are inside 9 m it can still be a free. So technically they can justify it. Issue is that itâs just not the way it has been umpired.
Lifeâs not fair, we love playing the victim. How about we do something about it?
Always the victim, itâs never our fault.
Canât wait for AI to analyze games and generate a bunch of stats about which frees umps pay (and donât pay,) for which infringements, in which part of the ground, to which teams, what the margin\free kick differential is at the time etc.
